I just got a 04 comp g a few weeks ago and noticed something very strange...if the rear defroster is turned on the radio goes to complete static...once the car is warmed up it isnt as bad...the car came with a Sony explode head unit and 12" kicker sub...any ideas?

I've heard of this happening before when the rear window is tinted due to the antenna and defroster elements (both a part of the rear window) having interference with each other through the metallic layer in the film, other than that though I got nothing :???:

it's cause the back window is the antenna, only happens in some from my understanding, just the way they were made causes it, i get the same thing, i use it to turn off the GFs horrible music choices  , on topic though i believe it has to do with the sudden change in temp

It happened on my 2004 Comp G but since I listen to CD's I didn't worry about it.

that used to happen to me but only when i was using an fm transmitter...i dont know if there are any fixes for it other than checking your wiring to make sure they have the antenna wire hooked up correctly to the HU

Mine did the same. 2004 Comp G. Couldn't get any channels with defroster on.

So, I started paying for XM, when the sunroof was open all the way and I was driving East, the sunroof would block my XM signal.

So, after that, I just installed an iPod adapter that plugged into the XM port and allowed me to retain song titles and steering wheel controls.

I would try a different ground for the radio. Might help the situation. Other than that I would check the connections for the antenna. Both behind the radio and on the rear windshield.

Sidenote for tint.... just make sure its a ceramic tint. Doesnt fade no where near as fast as metallic film does. Also wont mess with your antenna reception. My tint is going 5 years strong and still looks as good as day one.
