Painter's tape. Just use that and an X-Acto knife.

Cut the strips of tape and then put them on the engine cover and spray.

go to staples and get this bad boy printed at the size of your cover and go left to right cutting the stripes than use a sharpie and mark it off than slowly tape everything up w/ an exacto and if you pull it up slightly and trim you won't cut the plastic

also w/ a black edge you wouldn't see the cuts anywyas

well even w/ most colors the eyes won't notice a super shallow nick in the plastic on a painted edge

but if you go slow and take your time you won't have any trouble, because on the ram i painted the hood and used a razor blade on the paint and didnt hit nothing

practice on boxes and youll get your feel for the depth of the tape that way

You are right, it didn't work but that's only because the guy I bought it from used cheap ass paint and it won't come off, even after sanding 6 times. So I gave up.

ooh that looks nice. its kinda like a black/gray camoflauge. I'd leave it like that, and tell everyone it camo. If they dont believe you tell them its retro. haha, but ya paint that is tgood in some spots and bad on others sucks to make look nice.
