I'm really hoping to turn my bone-stock GTP into something like most members on here..

I was wondering where you guys get your parts from? Bumper lips, grilles, wheels, rocker panels, etc..

Any input would be appreciated!

This thread would have helped out a lot, but all the pics are dead in it now. Still might be some help though.

Yeah, I was flipping though there. It gave me some ideas, but I would like some variety.. maybe mix and match some parts for a truly personal and one-of-a-kind GP, that doesn't have the all-in-one appearance package. Because lets face it.. Grand Prix = racecar. At least make it yours, eh?

Our parts are acquired from classifieds on here or other gp forums or eBay or Craigslist and the like as well as the dealer.

Even with starting out with a relatively basic foundation like a silver black or white gp can net you unique results with a little imagination as well as paying attention to what others have done.

One way to be unique is through rim choice of course... So many to choose from...

I was looking at aftermarket wheels - that seems to be the biggest difference when it comes to custom appearance. Something multi-spoke like Mr.Angry.GTP or mshipman89. I think those type of wheels look amazing. Then I suppose it's all the little things that pretty much makes a complete package.

With wheels, it's all about the car color.

My rims are Msr 093s in super silver. Mikes are 045s I believe.

We all strive for custom but slightly different than one another.

And yes overall execution is about subtle mods thoughtfully planned out and executed.

The most fun I get is rolling up to a stock grocery getter gp... Only then do the differences become glaringly obvious... Lol

So, Gary.. what's with the FIA Racing stripes? When I was visiting a buddy in Michigan, there's a silver GP there as well that had the same black FIA Racing Stripes.

Fender stripes inspired by gs corvette. In my case I took 1080 3m dinoc and got creative.

Originally a race team running two identical race cars would have a fender stripe on one of them to help distinguish one from the other...

A bunch of us on here have them. The nice thing is they are removeable being vinyl...

I originally only had one, as with gs corvette, but to balance the car, I ended up doing both.

Why stripes? Bc Gtp = race car. Lol.

They aren't for everyone, it's not like you have to put them on to be cool or anything.

Y'all would probably kill me if you knew what I'd want on a GP appearance wise. Nothing remotely ricer, just not "Pontiac" per say. Or Holden for that matter (I'm not as big into them as most on here seem to be except for the whole RWD L67 thing).

How much did you guys end up investing in your GP's, if you don't mind me asking? I'm putting $80/month away on mods and kind of wanted to get an idea as to how long I can make "car" into "race car." Lol.

I'm thinking of starting with 18" alloys, then moving onto ground effects. Then just kind of go back and fourth between performance and appearance.

Ummm. Maybe Chevy style Rally Stripes???? They'd look totally awesome on a G-body GP, but on a W-body GP, I'd have to get an aftermarket spoiler to make it look right. I know it's not remotely Pontiac or Holden, but that would definitely be a very unique touch. I'd stick with the Chevy theme of only having certain color stripes (usually black, white, or red, any other color was uncommon except for special editions). I certainly wouldn't do anything ridiculous, it would just be very different and unique. I'd do up the engine bay and interior to match of course. If I could ever figure out exactly how those seat covers are attached to the foam (either hog-rings or velcro or a mix of the two), I could take out a lot of the cost by doing it myself since I build seats for a living.

What Eugene said = mods in sig.

Sarge that's the wonderful thing about modding... Make it unique.

I'm working within the frame work of a silver 04 Gtp which is tough considering there are many with the same car here these days. I think it's safe to say most of us strive to be unique, we may borrow or build upon specific mods, but it's safe to say outright copying of ones entire theme does not occur here nor should it.

It's nice to be emulated, it's not nice to be 100% duplicated... Lol

Even now I have visual mods planned that no one has done before on a gp (after hrs of searching)...

Innovation keeps you sharp and ahead of the curve. :)
