here is the overall objective





the ipad on top was just to see the alignment and it will work perfectly just

*Remove the four center clips on the bezel

*Do a complete cutout

*Sand the edges

*Connect to my Kenwood DDX712 via USB to get audio out to my system

* DONE! (I Think)

Currenly searching ebay for a cheap bezel to cut up, or will anyone donate one?

I think I'd have to make some sort of snap and lock set up. That way you could easily take it out when you need it and quickly pop it back in place in the car when you get back in. I'm thinking something like hinged grooves that hold the top and bottom of the iPad.

Im removing the thing at the bottom of the ac control and moving the ac control down no fiberglass need the screen is 7 3/4 so is the dash trim

I don't know much on the ipads, but the ipods HATE heat (cold too but not so bad).... I would make it removable. Or you better get a cover for it and leave the windows down or you're going to have a very pissy touch screen and an LCD screen with no backlight within the year =( ask how I know =(

You are absolutely right. I already have the specs laid out on how it will go in and be held in the bezel will be cut from the passenger side where the ipad can slide in and out. Give me a week or two. just waiting for cannon to hit me back for the bezel.

I think it is kind bad idea. Look down on dashboard for 3 seconds... car stop at front of you. ahhhhhh *crash*

I use my garmin on my windshield. Kind like HUD way. Pretty safe imo I guess.

unless he totall redesigned a way to mount it / charge and sync it while everything is in the car

also the itouches hate cold i work in a freezer one day a week and it usually has to have a soft reset from me working in there. w/ the freezer off (30) or so and in my pocket

Just to set the record straight i know im not the first to do this i searched google and the web how ever i did say first in a grand prix 04+ mount in the dash some say good idea some say bad but after seeing the end product anybody would love it........

It dont only take creativity to do something like this it also takes stupidity and confidence.

If any of you have a ipad measure it and you will see this thing was actually made for our dash down to the cm, seriously. taking out the storage pocket and moved the A/C controls down and the measuring is all on point, only thing is im not ready to cut my bezel til i get a backup first. lol
