I'm looking into replacing the emblem on the center of my steering wheel. The stock "GP" just looks gawd awful to me and it is starting to peel around the edges. I would like to know what it looks like behind it. Has anyone taken one of these off before? What does it look like behind it?

I think something like this would look good, especially for the price, though it may be a little big.

Thoughts?

If you got the Measurements im sure Matt at Reflectiveconcepts.com could hook you up. Or depending on how in depth the process would be, you could get either just the airbag cover or a whole wheel from morad with the later style wheel which had a raised emblem on it. Would also allow you to swap in a leather wrapped wheel if you don't have one already, I know i love the perforated leather on my wheel and shifter.

You could always go with a later year steering wheel emblem. My 07 has the arrow head instead of the GP

I like the GP logo myself, but Trey is correct, approach Matt from RC with your ideas and make sure you give him the diameter you need and select the reflectidome option.....

If you go the reflecdome sticker route you can get a one off as well... just saying. If you wanted a special custom emblem or what ever you want in the middle of the wheel.

Thanks for the advice guys, I haven't thought about going to RC with a design but that is something I will think about.

I still need to know what it looks like behind the original decal. I don't want to get it off and have some large hole that makes the new one really hard to attach. Has anyone ever taken one of these off?

No clue, I bought the car new and that is what the speedo looked like. It seems with each year they made a few more changes in the 04+. For example mine is only a GT but I have the chrome interior accents around the vents etc and things like that.

04/05 didn't come with the chrome accent rings or gm badges on the door but can easily be added like I did to mine.

I believe the Widetrack logo disappeared during the 2006 model year. :)

yeah yours is only a gt but since the gtp no longer existed in 06+ the gt would have some of the the interior accents

True the GTP was in retirement by then, but there was still the GXP above my GT. But either way I am glad I got em cause I think they look way better than the plain vents and everything without em.

Vent rings and other trim bits can be gleaned from 06 and ups...

Dave's (Drunkie) car is an 04 like mine and he has the GXP Pedals and chrome rings...

I have the GXP aluminum door sill plates...
