I replied to your pm.

You need a set of morimoto minis, do some research using google, check out dave's how to threads, and visit theretrofitsource.com. Oh and don't forget to get a decent h1 hid kit too.

When it comes to the H1 hid kit, at least buy the Morimoto H1 bulbs from theretrofitsource. They are pretty much the highest quality aftermarket hid bulbs you can buy. And cheap bulbs can burn too hot and destroy the coating inside the projector. You can buy cheaper ballasts elsewhere and use those instead of the insanely expensive morimoto ballasts.

TheRetrofitSource threw a big hissy fit over people melting housings (wouldn't warrant their products if you used DDM bulbs) because they were obviously losing business to DDM. Funny that if you look into the subject there really aren't any problems with DDM bulbs melting housings unless people are putting 55w ballasts in and using small projectors thus concentrating the heat. Under normal circumstances though they are fine, so don't listen to all the TRS "Don't get DDM stuff, pay 4x as much for our stuff which comes from the same factory." They are a business and made an attempt to stop others from taking their business to cheaper suppliers.

I have DDM slims on my girlfriends GP and they are great. I also just put in an order for 2 sets of DDM slims to replace my 4 regular ballasts on my GTI.

I will still have to vouch for the fact that 55 watt ballasts are fine with morimoto minis. My lights are on for up to 4 hours a time with 55w ddm ballasts and bulbs in minis, and no melting or flaking of the projector. If you were using certain shrouds then the shrouds may melt due to cheap plastic being used, but if not then i see no problems with this setup.

^^Exactly. It's not the bulb that's causing the problems, it's other components that are failing, TRS just tried to point that finger at a competitor to get business back. I was just stating that in a "perfect storm scenario" maybe, just maybe, but it doesn't really ever happen.
