Hey guys,

wanted to show you something you may or may not be dealing with. My pillars were really faded/scratched/chipped and im not sure what causes this but I see quite a few cars going through it so I wanted to show you a fix for around $6!

My pillars looked like this.
Image
I was sick of that big blotch thing so I decided I would Plasti-Dip them. Now I had never used it before but I knew it was totally reversible and wasn't very expensive so I picked up a can. I understand this is most likely not news to most of you but for the people who didnt know what Plasti-Dip was I decided I should explain. Carrying on...

After masking of the windows with painters tape, I masked more to protect from over-spray.
Image

Sprayed a few coats and BAM! better looking satin-ish finished looking pillars.
Image

This Plasti-Dip stuff is so convenient I thought about doing some more with it. I've seen countless people do rims but this is what I have in mind.

This:

to This:

Here is a better view of how the rims would look.

Let me know what you think I should do by voting in the poll. Thanks!

The pillars look good. But I wouldn't do the lip of your rims. Doesn't look right to me.

im not sure if you guys have seen a certain user, im drawing a blank on his username but his sig says "Eugene" and his gp is an 04 style and has rims with a black lip and chrome spokes(5) and that is the inspiration of the rim paint job. Another reason why I think the front fascia would look good is because if you saw my member welcome topic you would see that it is cracked quite significantly so painting it satin black will hide the crack a little bit.

I'm also planing on getting a band-aid for the front bumper where its all screwed up. I think it would look cool.

I think you have the right idea, so you get my vote to move forward... the good news is that pd is peelable...so if the rims look gay in your op then scrape it off...

kudos to you for pushing the envelope... we out of the box thinkers appreciate that. ;)

and eugene's car is tits.

Eugene's car was at the show I went to with my car and it is a great looking car for sure.

Like others have said the window.trim looks great and if you don't like the look of the wheels you can take it off so.why not, dare to be different. And you can always just do one or two on one side to be sure like it before you do them all

sent from my driod x, via my fingers through tapatalk

I think it looks good...Plastidip is great to work with, i sprayed my wheels solid and then later on down the road i peeled the the lip back to chrome and think it looks so much better!! also a tip i found out with PD is the the armoral protective wipes give it a nice gloss for a few days to spice up the matte black.

I think it is an inexpensive mod that is not hard to execute and adds a great deal of style to the car. I can't wait until I have time to do it.

Becky, have you ever seen the plasti-dip clear coat that supposedly makes the "satin" finish turn gloss?
