My wheels are just plain silver, Id love to get them powdercoated black but I got a quote from a local place and they want 120$CDN per wheel , at that price I might as well throw in a little bit more money and buy new wheels!! So until I retire these wheels as my winter wheels and get some blacked out 18", what do you guys think of the following painted accents on my wheels, yay or nay? It's just a photoshop, I haven't painted them yet...

My wheels as they stand now...

The idea I have for painted accents...

They are Auto Ventshade visor's (AVS) :) PFYC sells them here, although I got mine locally.

Dam $120.00/whl cnd. I can get all 4 done for that price here in Sask. I use to do powder coating and that is way to much per wheel.

Thanks.....They look good but was hoping to find someone with Weathertech shades VISORS because they are low profile and look like they don't stick out very much in their pics (almost flush)...

paint the wheels...I think you'll be happy!!! (and it CHEAPER!!...for now)

All four for 120$, that's good, too bad im far  I was expecting around 50$ per wheel, when I saw the quote they gave me I said eff them!! Here is their website (http://www.ottawapowdercoating.com), they wanted 120$ for High gloss black and 150$ for High gloss gun metal

Those WeatherTech's look nice, they are in-channel visors though, I was going to buy a set of in-channels because frankly I think they look better but I was told by two people that eventually they can cause problems with your power window motors because the motor always has to force a little extra to squeeze the window in the channel when it gets to the top. I don't know how true that is but I didn't want to risk it...

Cheaper for sure ;) Thanks for your opinion, I'm leaning towards painting the accents...

I finally painted my wheel accents last weekend....I am pleased with the way it looks  I also bought some black wheel lugs to accent the black I painted on the wheel...looks better than with the silver lugs....now im still thinking about painting the chrome center cap and replacing the "Fast" logo with a black pontiac arrowhead and silver background, we'll see...

Before I painted the accents....

Now with the painted accents and black lugs....

Thanks

I bought them through a local auto parts distributor (CAPS - http://capsparts.com), they were 1.50$ per lug plus 6$ shipping....I bought a total of 22 lugs (2 spares), with taxes and all cost me 44$CDN. They are sold by Fast (http://www.fastco.ca/ecatalogue/), the company that also makes my wheels, they are based around Montreal. My lugs are on page 3 of the catalogue (tuner lugs, I can't use acorn lugs on my wheels), you can also get the regular colored acorn lugs on page 4 or colored tuner lugs on page 7.

Thanks  I got them on sale so they were worth getting at that price, I don't remember exactly how much I payed, think it was around 600$CDN. Ive had them since May and so far they have treated me well..they hold the road nicely wet/dry, cornering they feel good....they replaced a set of Falken's ZE-912 or something which weren't too bad but the Eagles are better...I would buy them again at that sale price, if I were to pay full price id check what else is available in that price range, not because I don't like the Eagles but you never know if theres something better out there without trying! :)

Im not sure if you can order directly from them, I believe you have to go through a distributor/reseller/dealer....check for an authorized dealer in your area (http://www.fastco.ca/content/view/28/62/lang,en/)

The 1.50mm is the thread size and is what you need, 12 x 1.50mm.

Instead of your accent idea, why don't you just leave the lip silver and paint them a glossy black or gunmetal? Accents look decent but it may not be that big of a change and you may want something more.

I wanted to change the look of my wheels and keep costs down, originally I wanted them powdercoated all black or gunmetal and I was going to add a red line around the lip of the wheel. The local powdercoating place was charging way too much (see OP) so I decided to go this route which was going to be cheaper. I played around with a few ideas (including changing the lip color) in photoshop before deciding on this scheme, easy said and done in photoshop....the problem with these wheels is how the spokes merge to the wheels, it would be tricky/hard to make good looking clean lines to seperate the spokes from the lip. In total this cost me about 80$CDN for the dupli-color wax/grease remover, dupli-color flat black wheel paint (no gloss black available at CTC), dupli-color wheel clear coat and the black lugs...scuff pads, razor blades and masking tape were free from my fathers body shop

Thanks. I'm going with the GT's. Too bad I can't do the black lugs...in the DC area wheel locks are a must! I still may get em and paint the locks black.

good luck painting them, they won't last after you take your wheels off and on a few times, the stress of the nuts being torqued should mess up the paint job

Black wheel locks are available, I believe McGuard makes a set, probably other company's too.
