I kinda want my dash and console professionally painted silver with massive amounts of clear for a really high quality gloss look. Any thoughts? Too ricey? I'm just getting tired of the all "black" thing. I think it would look nice in theory, but then again, that's precisely what it is. We're not talking rattlecan stuff, we're talking FLIP quality (well, done by him what do you expect?)

As long as everything in yer car isnt silver. Other then that, it looks good and not ricey.

I wouldn't see why you would even think it would be considered "ricey" ... IMO, ricey is thrown around WAY too much, and most of the time used out of context ... do what you feel would be best for your car, who cares what other people think .... if you have doubts, take it to a professional shop, see if they can maybe photoshop what the outcome may look like, and go from there ... or just have one of the photoshop master's on here do one up for ya

The word "rice" is not thrown around to much, and if it is, it fits the "context" pretty damn good. And you can "rice" out an interior with to much painting. IMO if you paint every possible part you could inside your car, its considered rice/gay. When you have a few parts painted too "accent" the interior, thats fine and not "ricey" at all. Theres only so much you can do to an interior before it starts looking gay/ricey. The dash, center concole trim, those are fine, just dont go overkill with it. A few members on here have there dash trim and center console trim painted and it looks pretty damn good and looks not one bit ricey. You could do it yerself with a rattle can but it will take a lot more time. Im gonna do mine when it gets warmer, but I dont know what color I wanna go with because my interior is tan If youve got a compressor, buy a HVLP gun with one of these filters since you wouldnt be using it alot, http://www.spraygunworld.com/Informatio ... ters10.htm and a regulator and you will be set.

Wont be ricey at all. As long as it done right and cleared you'll be good to go. I was actualy thinking bout doing mine sports red but im not sure of the cost or how it will look then, the the headliner maybe in a red suede similiar to Dboys.

Mikey, not the actual dash piece, the trim around the cluster and the trim by the console. Won't reflect much at all. And Steve, black and tan always seem to go well IMO. Just make sure it's automotive exterior quality....

painted mine with lesonal paint. used HS surfacer/sealer, galaxy silver metallic, sport red metallic, and pro air clear. came out sexy as hell if i say so myself.

kinda figured lol. gettin the bumps outta mine was a pain in the ass, had to prime super thick 2 times and sand for like 2 days straight. i still coulda primed one more time and sanded more but it i was ready to put them in and it turned out pretty flat anyway. but the texture on the 97-03 isnt nearly as harsh so it shouldnt be much hassle.

You may have glare problems with the front window. I have some with my car, but I can only imagine how it would be if it were really shiny.

How would I have glare issues though? It's the piece that surrounds the cluster, radio, HVAC controls... The dashpad would be left alone...

Lesenol FTMFW! That stuff is amazing. Did the interior of my neon with that stuff. I plan on doing the GP with that stuff next month, but it's just going to be the same color as what the pieces are stock.. just smoothed out.

yeah we use mostly lesonal at the shop. but we also use omni paint. i like lesonal much better, but omni costs about 1/3 as much.
