i was told that the 98 gtx hood might not fit on my 97 gtp because the hood latch is different and the shocks are different. anyone have any idea if this is true and if so how do i fix it. thanks

if not hit the junkyard and get the latch mechanism from a 98 -03
but the 97 could have a problem just because of the fact that the 97 & 98 models are so different from the 99-02 and the 03

or you could get the stuff from this guy?

IIRC the only differences were in the early 97s. These cars did not have shocks for the hood onlt a prop rod, otherthan that they should be the same.

The only differences are some GPs from 97-99 didnt have hood struts, they had prop rods. It should work regardless, eitehr way a brand new GM latch is only like $20 from a dealer. At least here it is...

Well, as most of us know, the GTP was an optional package in '97. But, I have personally seen/worked on shadows car and he has the struts. I think in the later years, the only GP's that had prop rods were the SE's.

My 2001 & 2003 SE models have hood struts. Thank god for no prop rods. I don't like it. My 2001 (winter beater) stock hood still have prop rods "hole" on hood. My 2003 (summer car) F1 hood do have letter on it "rods" and little circle that should cut around. I didn't choose cut it since I have struts.

Isn't that because of the Stage II weight reduction kit that gives you an extra 10hp. in the butt dyno?

J/k of course ;-)

You are correct Pat. It was in the deals and steals section. I sent Shadow a text at 2:30am and woke him up just to tell him about it.
