So I want to buy a pre-made tint kit for my car, as the local shops will charge $300+, and the darkest they go is 15%, which is not good enough for what I want. I want to do 20% on the front 2, 5% on the rear 3. So my questions are:

1. Do I need to remove the door panels/window glass to make this look good, or can everything be left in place?
2. How hard is the rear window to do, if I have to do this solo?

If any of you have any tips for doing this, they would be much appreciated.

Dont buy the pre-made kits. They are junk.

Go to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts or whatever the hell you have where you live and buy it. Get the scratch resistant stuff. Get applicators/squeegees. Then use water in a spray bottle with a few drops of baby shampoo in it to help apply the tint. A heat gun and straight razor will also be needed.

Also it is easier to do with the windows removed, but it can also be done with the windows in the car. Most shops to the rear window in two pieces. You buy strips which make it really easy.

300 sounds high for tinting, ask for any deals.. IMO its worth it to pay for someone to tint the windows. I tried tinting my old s10 and it drove me insane so i gave up. I payed Zeibart to tint mine and it cost 220. That was for all 5 windows at 20% and they have a lifetime warranty. I look at it being better to bring it back some where if there is problems.. Just an idea..

DAMN! $300+ for some tint?!?!?!? That's crazy, no doubt. I paid $130 for all 5, 20% all the way around. Even if I wanted to do the windshield (which I'm gonna do 50% once I get a new one, thanx to rocks), he only wanted like $30 - $50 more. Sux for you brotha, I'd definately go with tint from Advanced. Screw AutoZone (at least around here, they seriously hire the dumbest people).

Same here. I was one of the better ones, but believe me, I don't know nearly enough to help with everything.
