Hello everyone,
I want to redo the interior of my car. Want to have this two tone(Black/Silver) look to my car. Take out the carpet, and have new set of nice black carpet installed. Have the dashboard possibly painted silver and have the center console black. The leather on the doors black/silver. The upper part will be silver and the rest black. The seats, have a silver two tone in the special edition gp's. And to finish it off a carbon fiber dash kit. yay or nah?
My car is silver and i plan on continuing the theme on the outside, but just simple, black grille. Silver wheels.
Where/who should i contact on doing this? I have the money to do so, its just that is there anyone here that specializes in such stuff? I dont wanna take it somewhere and spend extra when theres someone or a place that can do a better job and cheaper.
Thanks,

Any upholstery shop. Prepare to pay interior work is not cheap unless you do it yourself or know of a friend. I say no to a silver dash..it will end up cracking due to to sun and look like crap. If anything. Paint the dashboard bezel silver. as far as the sears and door panels go. Why not search the forums or ebay and find some interior from a daytona and add to the list have your headliner wrapped. I love faux suede.

Just to make sure we are on the same page, the part is silver is where all the instruments are, not the area where the hud is located. I was thinkin for the seats, get a leather cover? relatively cheaper.

Seat covers can look good.

They cost me about 500 from Cover king But i saw something on Speed the other day about a company that makes these but they actually replace your old leather. A little more work but would look even better. Just giving you Ideas.

This place sells molded carpet sets in factory or custom colors: Rock Auto
They're made by Auto Custom Carpets, Inc.
For leather interior, there's Katzkin

^^Thanks for posting those links. Has anyone tried that carpeting from Rock Auto? I've always wanted to do black carpeting in my coupe.

Lol I build seats for a living. That might be an interesting future project for one of my cars as far as custom-looking seats go.

Any clue as to if the covers are attached to the seat foam with hog-rings (also known as c-rings) or velcro???

You're welcome! The carpet sets sold by Rock Auto are supplied by Auto Custom Carpet, at a lower price than ordering direct from ACC. For your car I'd go with the Cut Pile Carpet in Black with Mass Backing for sound deadening and insulation. ($164.89+shipping) The same carpet set ordered through ACC's site would cost you $308.72+shipping. For Rock Auto discount codes, go here: http://www.retailmenot.com/view/rockauto.com

For pics of the black carpeting: Re: palsut's car 2009 project (56K) *update11/2*

I've used ACC carpets in several of my cars, never had any problems.

The covers like what I have are elastic, velcro and basically wrap very tightly around the seat. They dont move once tightened down and look great. the katzkins or what ever their called do use hog rings though.

The carpeting is shipped all rolled up in a box, so my advice is to pick a nice warm day for the install, and set it out in the sun for 2-3 hours to soften it up and make it easier to work with. If you want to add the embroidered floor mats or a trunk mat, you can order them here: Lloyd Premium Floor Mats for Grand Prix

Are your seats the stock ones? And yes, as long as they're properly built, the velcro won't go anywhere. I build seats for Nissan and the seat cushions for the bucket seats (at least on the Altimas, not sure about the trucks) are all hogringged in. The seat backs have 3 hogrings and then the rest is velcro'd in. Either way I'm good though cause I can flat make that hogring gun SING. The problem with the velcro is that if you don't set it right it looks like dog crap but it's easier to fix than a missed hogring.

Is the carpet already molded to fit the floor? Funny you should mention, I actually just bought the Lloyd floor mats in black about a month ago. Carpeted trunk mat will be next!

thought i already pposted in this thread, but i guess not. Drew the factory seats covers use hog rings for the bottom of the back rest then velcro to keep the leather against the padding. I dont remember how the bottom is held on though.

And mark i beleive palsut had to cut the hole and stuff for his, so it probably isnt pre molded

Yes, it's molded to fit the floor, but it will probably have wrinkles from being rolled up in the box, and it won't have shifter hole pre-cut. Lay it out flat in the sun and allow time for the wrinkles to come out, and then match it up to the old carpeting. You may have to trim the edges or cut a hole here or there, but that's minor. The main thing is to take your time. Measure twice, cut once. Here's a couple of info links from ACC's site: http://www.accmats.com/Company/faq.aspx and http://www.accmats.com/Downloads/Conten ... ctions.pdf

My neighbor bought an ACC carpet set for his Mitsubishi Eclipse, and he and his brother-in-law tried to install it "cold" right out of the box, because his brother-in-law was in a big hurry to get it done. I tried to offer some helpful advice, but it was ignored. So they spent the better part of the afternoon struggling and cursing all through the install, and of course cut the shifter hole too big, only to find that the console couldn't hide their mistake. :happy1:

Kaleb, hogrings would be awesome. I can make that gun sing like nothing else. I can have an Altima seat cushion shot in about 30 seconds. It has 20 hogrings. 4 across the width, 4 down the middle, and 6 down each side. I've gotten good at the backs with the velcro but thankfully I start with 3 hogrings to hold it in place as I set the velcro. Otherwise it would be a real PITA. It still can be on the leather when you roll the covers over the sides because unless the leather is warm enough, it doesn't want to look right when you roll it over. I prefer hogrings on the seats cushions for that reason. You don't have to heat the leather beforehand and you know when you roll it there's no chance of it coming loose.

maybe we are thinking of different things for hog rings then drew, the things on the seat are long plastic "c" peices. they run the whole width of the seat, and it fastens into the bottom one

You may be thinking of how the edges of the cloth are fastened to the bottom of the seat. I'm talking about how the cloth is actually held to the foam in the middle of the seat. You'd have to take the seat apart to know for sure though.

be specific on what you want i have the bottom of a seat apart and could get pics of what your wanting to know. i figured out what i wanted to know and havent bothered with the seat back tho.

i was trying to " remove " the heated seat from a factory front, so i could install itin the passenger seat of the 40th, but the heater is woven through the foam on the back side of the leather, and i doubt that it would be worth it to pull it out. i will probly just look to aftermarket.. (i smell a thread brewing.)

compression fit, and some velcro, in like molded chanels in the foam. i can lift the leather cover and snap a pic after i get home. the sides of the leather are held to the frame with a large plasic C-channel lookin deal the leather attaches to one side and the other is open for mounting.

i would assume that cloth would be the same. but who knows... really who does know?? guess i may have to pull one of them apart.. or cut a crapppy one open next time i am in the yard.

Ok so it is velcro. The C-clips on the side are pretty standard across the industry for holding the fabric down to the sides of the seats. That's what I was trying to figure out. Thanks.
