As you G8 owners probably know, the lower plastic door panels get scuffed easily by your shoes when getting in & out of the car. I ordered some thin polished stainless steel and I'm gonna make some plates to cover the lower door panels. When I receive the material I'll get them made and post some pics once I get them installed. I'm making them for all 4 doors.

There's a lot of interest for these in the G8 forum, so I think they should be popular. Here's some for the new Camaro on Ebay to give you and idea of what I'm talking about. The price should be around $150 shipped for all 4 pieces, which is much less than 2 of them for the Camaro.

Make em for the GP after you do the G8!!! The guy who owned my car before me must have had kids cause the door panels in the back of my car are all scuffed up.

If I can get my hands on a Grand Prix to get some measurements I will. What year is your car? If they turn out good for the G8 I'd like to make them for all cars & trucks.

It would be sweet to engrave "G8" on them.....

I would totally rock a set if it had that on there.....
(You could do vynal. But engraved would be cooler)

I don't know how I could engrave them and make it look good (the letters would be too thin to stand out), but if I could emboss them somehow that would look cool. I can use vinyl letters though, and put them towards the back so it doesn't get scuffed off.

Thats a great Idea Don, We all do the same thing trying to avoid bumping them but we always do. I think the only issue would get them getting scratched. Other than that I would love to see them on the car.

Stainless steel is a lot more durable than the rubber soles on your shoes, so scratching them shouldn't be a problem.

That is true. I tend to have some dirt on my boots and that made me wonder. Sounds like a real good idea though.

I got the material today, I got the pieces all done, and I'm mounting them right now. So I'll have some pics by tomorrow.

Ok I got them installed and they turned out nice. It took me about an hour to do all 4 doors and it was real easy, so everyone shouldn't have a problem installing them. I tried to stick them on with some 3M tape and it wouldn't adhere to the plastic on the door panel, so I had to use some small screws to hold them in place. Here's some pics for you to see what they look like.

I like it because of the stainless look in the door jam with the kick panels. It flows if you ask me.

I'm trying to find some double-sided tape that will stick to the plastic door panel. I think they would look better without the screws in them.

Or if you have an iron worker in the garage. When I was in school I loved using the Iron worker.

You're right Nick, easier said than done. I'd have to sell thousands of these to pay for a machine like that. Marc what the heck is an iron worker? I never heard of it.

Don, as someone else said should have made those for the GP when you had yours. I will be purchasing some as soon as you get them for the GPs. I think it is a great idea, as my husband is always hitting that area with his boots. And it drives me crazy........

I noticed this morning that I am always touching the speaker grille (in my GP) with my foot as I try to swing it out. Seems to me that winter crap can get in there very easily. Has anyone ever noticed this issue and has anyone had a problem with the speakers being ruined because of it?

I haven't noticed any issues with my speakers, just a lot of dirt ends up there. Along with the running board area in the door.
