first off....Does anyone know anything about Projector halos for a G8?

And secondly (and mainly)
Does anyone know where, or from whom, to buy decent HIDs that aren't from eBay for like 10$ and that aren't made in china?
I don't know much about where to really find them. And nobody locally really sells them. So any info would help!

Thanks!

well most are made in china if not all
the quality is the biggest thing
i have tried a few ebay sellers with no luck

www.vvme.com i have dealed with them twice so far and am very pleased on the parts at least
i know the ballasts are a better quality as it's what i ended up switching to

you'll need two single beam kits

i run a dual and single in the truck

since i have 9007 bulbs i have a high and low beam hid
the fogs use a single, just don't get the slim kit, worst mistake ever

So one single kit would be for the Low beams.
And the other single kit would be for the Hi beams?

*nevermind...i just answered that lol*

But you havent had any problems with that single beam kit they sell?

How long have you had them?
Was installation as easy as they say?
AND, which color degree do you have or would you recommend?

Im thinkin like maybe the 6K or 8K....

i've had my truck kits since janurary

i had the gtp kit for almost a year

i had 6000k in the gtp and didn't like it
went 5000k in the truck and love it

and as far as easy as they say, no
every vehicle has it's quirks
it's because of the factory doing bulb checks and a bulb out causing problems

being a g8 you'll be one of the first to try
but a harness with the trigger as the parking lights should work

now 5000k - 8000k produce teh same color light on teh road to a degree
the farther towards 10000k the more blue

6000k is a good starting point for a white/blue look
8000k if you want it to look blue and have a white light
10000k for pure blue

What do you mean by that?

lol, sorry, i have a bunch of Q's about this....They make it sound to be easy, but i just get the feeling that its not as 'plug and play' as they say.

most harness use a relay system to draw battery and ground from the battery
the trigger can be any 12v source, the headlight switch the fogs the parking lights anything

so if you have DRL's, it will make things more difficult

well you don't want drl's as they will under power the ballasts and bulbs causing a shorter life expectancy

DO NOT DO MORE THAN 6000K

with our projectors they will be shitty... Don has 5000K and he loves them, he used to have 6000K in his GP, he bought a slim kit for around $75 and has been very happy with them... I will most likely be ordering the same kit, although I may get the 6000K..

I had the same Bosch 6000Ks in my GP as Don did and we had the same results...

i wouldnt do anything over 5000k in projectors. the lense and shield makes color so its gonna be blue to on coming traffic but the ground would be white so your gonna be able to at night, anything over 6000k is where the lumens really take a dive, 10000k and 8000k are for looks and are just barely brighter than some halogens. and you can do your own halos oznium.com has the rings ddmtuning.com has them as well.

Yeah, that write up helps alot! I think im goin to be buyin some within the next week or so...

*update*

So i found a car audio place here in town that actually sells HID kits, and they were doing a special this month where if you buy the kit they will do the install for free. So it will only run me about 140 to do that...

It was funny though, I told the guy that i wanted 5000k HID's, and he said there was no such thing and that the only thing close was 6000k.
Then he asked what color light i wanted and i told him i wanted the bright white light. And he tried to tell me that the higher the number in degrees kelvin, the whiter the light....I was like 'no.' That's incorrect.

And i kinda argued with him for about 10 minutes about that and about why i only wanted 5000k.
(because y'all say it doesn't look that great with anything more as the projectors weren't really designed for HID.) He said, that that doesn't make any difference because one of the other guys in the shop had HID Projectors and he said they look great. I told him that they weren't Halogen Projectors....And he didn't say anything. Then he tried to tell me that whoever had told me that higher degree lights look like junk in the G8 was full of shit.....

I just said whatever. Order the 5000K. I know what i want.
But he said he would try to do the 5000K if not he would order the 6000K for me. So i might just have to settle for that....

The first thing they said when i said i wanted HID's was "Do you want 10000k or 12000k?"
F that!! A guy that i work with has 9000K in his car i think...And i cant stand it. They are solid blue. Its VERY annoying...

(Sorry for the long post.)

i'm with him ^^^ 5000k is a safe bet because 4300k can change the color on what the glass quality is, so some will be blue the others will be yellow and very few ill be all white
5000k insures they look the same every time
