So Im just curious if anyone with a G8 has or is planning a hard core swap over... meaning full front end conversion, and all the other assocatiates badges and interior trim bits??

JHP has all the gear but basically wants you to give up your first born (yes. its that expensive) to pay for it...

Im talking 10 grand for a full front end conversion, never mind HSV rims, waltec exhaust, JHP gauges, Walkinshaw brakes, or Supercharger... But imagine how amazing it would be to have a full blown HSV GTS Spec Commodore/G8 in your drive!!!

Another idea would be to get a G8 GT (GXPs are arguably too rare to mess with extensively) that has a light hit on the front end for cheap and replace with HSV gear...

For example, you could start with this for 10-12 grand:

I also think that spending that amount of money for a Holden config is not worth it.....for me.....

However.....I wish we could get a group buy on GXP steering wheels though :)

If you knew from the start you wanted to do this, the front end damage idea would be a good way to start and save a little. It's a good idea, but if you decide to not go holden then you end up with a potential problem or a salvaged car.

I would move to Australia before I converted this car completely over.. Although I do like the W427 wheels but the price is hard to justify.

I actually like how the G8 looks via Pontiac. The Holden is nice, unique, and certainly holds its own presentation, but I would never pay the cash to convert one if I ever had a G8. Just seems like it'd be more beneficial to throw it into performance versus appearance.

Just my .02

Just saying if you want to go holden and then don't, you could be worse off then just buying one in good condition. But then again, it could go the other way and get you a ood deal when you can buy the parts and save money ha

Hmm...
I have the GT Sport Wheel and am considering going with the GXP. Which wheel did you come from to the GXP?

I saw a full HSV Commodore conversion on Goat Run (Even had a nice Maggie on it). So it's definitely been done, but it isn't something I'd do personally. I prefer the Monaro looks to the Commodore looks.

^^ Any pics of that converted Commodore lady??

Guys I hear what your saying... Jhp.com.au is quoting 10 grand for an E2 HSV conversion (Id take it over the GTS)... So lately Ive been farting arround on Ebay.com.au ooking for HSV/Walkinshaw bits... the front fascias are out there for alot less but most are only quoting local pick up....

Seems like there is an export opportunity for someone over there to glean up good used parts and send them over to us here (at reasonable prices)... there are afterall some 30,000 G8s in North America are there not??? Anyone know any Ozies? I dont think we have any that come on here do we???

Paul from GRRRR8 was the contact in Australia for parts like that. He had a site, But I just checked and it isn't working anymore.

There are several guys I talk to on a motorcycle board that are From down under. But I haven't been on there too much for some time now. Far as I know the shipping is the bitch part of it. I don't know if it would be cheaper to get several parts together and ship them all on one pallet or not?
