Quick details:
1998 GTP, 118,xxx miles. Mostly stock, SLP catback, u-bend delete, K&N drop in filter, stock/always has been stock s/c pulley. Guy had the SC snout replaced at the dealer around 80K because the coupler went bad and he didn't know it could be replaced. Oil changed "every 5 months" with synthetic. Oil looked good, coolant looked good with some sludge (to be expected. Rocker panels are actually pretty solid but the rear strut towers are pretty bad. There's some surface damage to the passenger side from a snow plow but it would be easy enough to fix. The rust on the rear quarter panel is all on the surface fromt he plow, it's not through the metal or coming from the inside of the wheel well, the wells are solid on both sides and so is the inside of the gas cap. the underbody was pretty clean as well.

I drove the car and it felt fine, it shifts smoothly, no misfires/hesitation. Drove like a GTP does, nothing was unusual. Guy is selling it because he bought a 2011 WRX ironically.

He's asking 2800 but he's negotiable and it's been sitting since July so I could tel he wants to get rid of it. I'd love to pick it up for around $1500, the most I'd pay would be $2000. What do you think? I wouldn't be keeping the car, just driving it until next summer when my younger brother gets his driver's license.

besides the rust, and the brake dust on the rims it looks good. Rust would be an easy fix if its not completely through

i would not pay over $2200 i bought mine for $1800 with a every single factory option and a 20k mile rebuilt transmission but the body has 192,000 miles all highway though... literaly only 30k is not at 70mph

strut towers looked bad on mine but they where only serfices and cleaned up easy. i then coated the trunk with bed liner (not compleated yet)

If you could get it for 2000 or under it has great potential of being a nice car.

Oh snap! Beating me back into the GP world huh? I'd love to be able to touch a GTP here for under 3 grand. I haven't seen one under 4 grand around here in months now. Which is why I'm gonna wait till Kendra finishes the coupe and buy it off her.

^^Too bad you aren't in the NY/CT area, here's a couple of Craigslist specials: http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/cto/2540078282.html and http://newlondon.craigslist.org/ctd/2538293407.html

The second one is pricey of course, but I don't run across too many low mileage ones around here.

I sold mine for 3K last august and I felt that was a pretty fair price.

I'm not sure if we're getting this car yet or not. There's a black 2005 GT with 80K on it that needs a new front bumper/hood/fenders/rad support for 2K in Michigan that we're thinking about picking up and rebuilding.

Kyle you'd shit yourself if you saw what this place is asking for a 98 GTP with 175k miles. It's been sitting on their lot for like 6 months and they still have not dropped the price yet. I still can't believe it.

Lot as in dealer? Screw dealers Drew, I'd never buy a used car from a dealer. The one Subaru dealer wanted 19K for a 2005 STi with 106K miles. I paid 16K for my 05 with 62K miles.

That's about the only places you can find GTPs at right now. Even the private listings have been a few Gs too high. I haven't seen a GTP for sale by owner in probably 3-4 months now. Saw a few GTs for sale by owner and they're way overpriced too. Granted, everything is rust free down here but even then it's pretty ridiculous. I about shit when Kendra got her coupe cause I haven't seen one priced like that in that condition in well over a year.
