So today I pull into a parking lot, came to a stop, put her into reverse to back into a spot and all I hear is this terrible grind. the best part is the car wouldn't move an inch. . of course I thought output shaft or flywheel or something major in my 168K drive line. I asked the gal at the place i was going to to jump in and put it in gear while I looked for broken parts ---- turned out to be a broken passenger side axle.... the outer end tore apart. After a three mile tow she's sitting in the garage about half taken apart.

I had a GM axle here with a blown inner boot with 40K on it so I took it down to the local rebuilder and the guy redid the inner in about 10 or 15 minutes for $20 ---- heavy duty boot included. I couldn't finish the job because someone borrowed my 34mm impact socket and forgot to bring it back. grrrrrrrr.

two things ---- this is the second time this year my girl's had to be helped home --- the first was a fuel pump that went without warning. the other is this a-hole who thought he was being funny, i guess. I was in an industrial strip mall that doesn't have much traffic, out of the way -- at least sort of. he pulls up, probably 20' away and starts mouthing off. now keep in mind my car had been sitting there for about 3 minutes at that time. I asked him to repeat himself since he certainly couldn't be talking to me about my car --- and again with the f-bombs and shitbox and other assorted niceties. shortly into his second tirade I advised that if was still sitting there when I got to him I was going to yank him out of his window and shove my phone down his throat. I must of been pretty convincing since he tore out of there on my first step.

oh well ---- stuff happens.

that was the weirdest part of the whole deal --- really. I mean cars break --- but you really have to work at it to be a complete a-hole. lol

she'll be fine Sat am --- when it's all put back together. figures --- temp has dropped 30 or 40 degrees. oh well.
