i have a 99 grand prix gtp sedan. i was riding with the windows and sunroof open the other day and when i got home the sunroof wouldnt close. its all the way open. i checked the fuse it was good changed it anyway just to eliminate that. i put some white lithium grease on the track in case maybe it needed lubrication. i dropped the headliner to see the tracks and didnt see anything blockin the tracks or anything the button seems to work when i press it but it wont move more than a inch or so. what could be wrong. i dont know anything about sunroofs really so any help is appreciated.
thanks

you can check for a loose wire going from the switch the motor, but more than likely your sunroof motor just burnt out.

also check the track it can get dirty

i would try and clean the track and rear grease it with white lithium grease and see if that helps. also check the fuse/ cuircate braker if it pulls to much power becuase it's dirty it could juat be tripping it or blowing the fuse

It's either the motor or the relay control box.

There are two limit switches on the motor, if the contacts go bad in them and the window will not work. The relay is located under the headliner (behind the DS sun visor) attached to the sunroof frame, it wil slide from left to right (or right to left) and then pull out.

The easiest quick fix, is to pull the motor and the slowly push the roof clolsed.

PM me if you think you need a motor or the relay box, I have both that came from a 97 not sure if they are the same but the roof worked when it was removed from the car.

Hope this helps.
