Found this searching.. apparently the second poster (I think? or third) says they work together.

Quote:
it bolts right in.
they are from the monte carlo and impala, they are more ridged
we use these in our drag car. as do the intense cars.
you will just need new mounts most likely. part numbers are available if you do a search.
great deal for a subframe and control arms.
Ed Morad sells these for a bit more with out LCAs

Yes they will work together. You have to use your LCA's with it though, and I think add a hole here or there to hang/support the power steering "cooler" line. Other than that, direct swap over.

Tad bit weaker than a stock steel one, but you save a few pounds.

But it's weaker... I'll stick with my 3900000 pound steel for safety...

Yes your saving weight. But there is too downside, safety goes VROOOOOOOM *CRASH*, and you lose some ever so important stiction between the road surface and the tires.

not really. i am kind of thinking if any racing maybe auto X (but i would be put in a non stock class so i would have to get a stock car to drive for a while). but other then that mayber one or two passes a year down the drag strip

Thats a few pictures of a good aluminum sub frame.

Here is a picture of a bad one...from a pretty big pot hole...
Image

Bet that felt good.

Anyway...switching for a weight reduction for drag racing or even AutoXing I fell would be a wasted investment in both time and money. Nothing wrong with the stock older steel ones, as they can take a good beating. Plenty of problems with the newer aluminum ones.

Good about the steel is if its bent, you can see it...aluminum...a lot harder to see the stress flexing of the frame. Most salvage yards anymore will not resell the aluminum ones for them not knowing 100% if its straight or not for resell. They will scrap them most the time.

But what ever you want to do. I thought about switching mine, but as hard as I drive my car, I decided I would stick with my stock steel one. It is ugly, I agree, so while it was out during a tranny swap many years ago, I had it powder coated for like $150.00 in a metallic mirrored silver. The control arms I finished where GM left off with their spot welds, and full seam welded them, for more strength, and had them done in red. Both look pimp...when your under it.
