Going to go the route of adding a sub to the Bose system.. sounds decent enough to me, just want to add some thump to it. Not looking to shatter windows, but a decent bump is always nice..

Amp / sub suggestions?

I was in the same spot 8 months ago. I went with a single Alpine Type-R 12" sub, a MRP-M500 amp and a Alipne CDA-105 HU. Good bump that sounds better than these kids with crappy 12's and not so loud that it overpowers the stock speakers.

I'm happy with it.

For just a decent bump without crazy bass, just get 1 12" or 1 10". anywhere from 600-1000 watt amp would work good. And as Kyle said, I would also suggest getting a different head unit. As far as brands go, that is pretty much personal preference. MTX and Alpine are the two I would recommend.

well gf has factory head unit and has 2 12s and make dudes look bad when she rolls thru lol. but budget setup is
sub http://www.millionbuy.com/kikvcvr124.html
amp http://www.millionbuy.com/powasa4002x.html

and sense you have bose youll be happy because the bose has nice highs just lacks a tad when it comes to bass, and your gonna have to turn the bass all the way down and far as line converter hmmm the cheap ones work better than the expensive ones unless your going with a cleansweep by jl or audio control or something of that nature

I have a bose system as well!

For a while I kept the stock radio... but seriously... if your going to get subs, please get a new headunit.

The bass output when wired directly off of the speakers is atrocious. I'm assuming your a music enthusiast and I can guarantee the thump will be there... but it won't mesh well with the stock systems tune. Get the head unit anything with preouts and do it the right way. The bose system maybe even sound better with an aftermarket headunit. Seemed that way for me;)

I have a 400 watt amp(sony) with 2 12's(jvc)... its not nearly enough power but the bass doesn't drown out anything else in the car and sounds fine for giving the music more flavor. I don't consider sony or jvc to be high quality either.

You could put an 8 in like a 1 cube ported box tuned to like 35-38Hz off 4-500 watts and have plenty of bass.

Sundown's SA-8's and DD's 1508's are very good woofers.

As for an amp, an Audioque 1200d would mesh well if you got either of the above with either a single 4 ohm coil or dual 2 ohm coils. If you go dual 2, wire it in series for a four ohm load.
