ok i am going to school to be an auto tech. so to day where wherre mesuring cams and happen to use my old stocker. so here is the odd part it had .288 of lift on both the int and exh lobes  every one so we did it agian same number used a diffrent micrometer same number  so we checked the GM spec for the lobe lift .258 int and .255 exh. ok odd. grabbed one from the back (we have lots of 3800s) and it was .257 int. and .253 exh..

we are going to check the duration tomarrow. i think i know why my car seemed faster then it should of been when it was "stock" :???:

What yr 3800 and model car did the cam from "in the back" come from. Not every 3800 used exactly the same cam.

As for the one in your car, that may have been the original cam. Mass maufacturing always has a few that "make their way through". Your car may have been the lucky canidate of a bigger then normal cam.

You always hear of "factory freaks" now and then.

Here's some food for thought........IIRC, ALL of the L36's and the L67's shared the same cam grind.

Probably just came from the factory like that. If you get the rest of the numbers you can check it against the table someone made and figure out if it is an aftermarket cam.
