I took my car to Greenacres Maroone to get 4 new tires put on. They will match Tire Rack on price, plus I buy straight from them so I don't have to worry about returning a defective tire. I also didn't have to worry about an installer who didn't want to take the time to do a good install, and instead blamed any issues on the tire with the advice to return the tire to Tire Rack. I paid a few dollars more for the install, but figured it was worth it. It was, too. The thing rides wonderfully, now. The problem is that it took them three (yes, 3) tries to get the right tires ordered. I gave it to them on Friday and ended up getting it back after work today. Now, on to why I'm so happy to be back in my car. Since they messed up, and I couldn't take my car home, they gave me a rental until it was taken care of. A 2012 Impala LTZ. 300 hp v6. I could tell it was A LOT faster on the top end, say from 3500 to 6500 rpm. Below that, my 12 year old, non-modified blower will eat it alive. Even with the TC turned off, I could only get a tiny squeak from the tires. It just had nothing form idle. I thought it was OK on day one and by day 2 I really disliked it. Day 3 had me hoping the engine would blow up, and despising the marketing losers who foisted this torqueless abomination off on an unsuspecting public. It had 13xx miles when I turned it in today. My GTP (in great condition) has 128,xxx miles. I was afraid I'd sit in my car and notice all the little things that aren't quite up to new spec. Not a chance. As soon as I gave it MAYBE 1/4 throttle, I knew I wouldn't trade my car for that one even as an even trade. Except to sell it and use the money to buy mine back, then keep the profit. I couldn't wait to get out of that car. And I am so happy to be back in mine. Not often you find yourself seriously wanting a 12 year old car over a brand new one. Thanks, Pontiac. I love my car.

That's the attitude, for sure.

I've been through hell and back with my car. I've had to rebuild and fix up just about everything you can name under the hood and in the suspension package. And even though I've met, if not exceeded, the value of the car, I still will never get rid of it. I just can't. I love it too much, and have been through too much rough times to just give it up. It's my car, and it's my freedom.

Cheers to Pontiac.

Lol, at least you had a rental to use..go without your car for a week with nothing else to drive, and you'll appreciate your car tenfold when you get it back. ;-)

I'd hate to have my car down that long. Still, when you can't wait to have your car back, over a brand new, "more powerful" car, it says a lot about how they built the older car.

Gotta love low end torque. When you drive a car without it you are like WTF is this crap?!?!?!?! At least it was 3.6 and not a little 4 banger rental. Even with a 11.5:1 CR and direct injection it doesn't make peak torque until 5300rpm. That's disappointing. That engine makes more power in other cars like the Camaro.

Disappointing is one word for it. Ridiculous is another. As in "worthy of ridicule". The marketing guys are just using numbers to get people who don't know any better to think they have a fast car. They don't even know what they don't have. They actually think that because their car has decent numbers (without being told where those numbers occur in the rpm band) that it must be fast and fun. Sad.
