I just put in my shortened dogbones this morning. They do get rid of the vibes I had from lowering but now my tranny is grinding in certain gears.

I first noticed it when I parked at Home Depot. Once I put it in park I could hear a grinding, put it in reverse or any other gear and it goes away. I figured it was just the incline of the parking lot and because of the dogbones. I figured i'll just always use my e-brake now when parking to help relieve stress on it when parking. Then I drive to Unique Sound which is a car place locally here to get a rubber coupler, when I got back in the car and I put it in reverse I now hear the grinding sound again. Put in neutral, drive, park and the sound goes away. Put it in reverse, the grinding comes back.

Is this going to hurt anything? I imagine it's not good for it. I don't want my tranny to blow up lol. Anyone else have this problem when using shortened dogbones? I'm guessing it's because the motor is now tilted forward more than it was. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

im not sure..i know that they raise the engien off the cradle some so the the cv joints are straight again after lowering your car, getting rid of any vibrations from lowering, so you coudl go back to the stock dogbones and eliminate the problem and the variable.

ask vinnie to explain it better, lol, he knows his stuff.

hmm, shortened dogbones are supposed to do the same thing basically. I will have to look into the cradle spacers. Thanks!

shortened dogbones just pull on the engine. the cradle spaces actually raise the motor back up so that the axles and cv joints are happy again.

with spacers your alex and cv look like this -----*-----

without they dont line up -----*\_____

and then it rotates off center causing the vibes

i pm'ed vinnie. i'll see what he has to say. anyways heres an update.

it's a loud grinding sound now, alot louder then it was before. It also jerks the whole car like my tranny mount is gone when i put it in reverse.

I can't get out and look because it's raining pretty hard and I would rather someone be inside the car to hold the brake when in reverse rather than using my ebrake.

I'm not sure but could my downpipe be hitting my sway bar after this? I know some ppl have the problem with it hitting after lowering but never heard anything about it doing this after putting in shorter dogbones. it almost sounds like my exhaust is reverberating off of my swaybar and coming into the cabin.

I'll know more when I can actually have a look around.

When I had shortened dog bones I had the same problem after looking into it I found that my downpipe was hitting underneath the car where it connected to the headers.
