So i had to drop the exhaust on my gt to do some welding and removed 3 of the 4 bolts on the muffler hangers successfully. but on the passenger side lower bolt i accidentally tore the head right off the bolt. i noticed it was rusted on a little bit and figured hell, ill just weld a nut onto the other side and thread it the rest of the way through. tried that. cooled the nut & bolt after welding then tried to wrench it out and sheared the nut right off, welds did not break, the bolt did. now i have nothing to work with and the bolt is to hard to use a Grabit bit on it. my last option is to weld that side of the hanger to the frame but i really dont want to. is there another way i can get that damn bolt out?

thats the thing, i did weld a nut on the back sideof the bolt which was the only threads left and sheared the bolt off again. originally i was going to use 2 nuts on it and wrench on the first nut and use the 2nd as a stop nut but there was not enough threads on the bolt left, thats when i went to welding it. ive tried drilling and unless im an idiot, the bolt is to hard for the drill bit to penetrate.

it is going to be hard and you will proably eat up a couple drill bits but that seems to be the only option unless you want to weld on a new hanger

yeah only reason i dont want to weld the hanger on is because eventually when i put on my full exhaust, its going to be a little more difficult to take the old exhaust off.

done. cut the head off a bolt, took the threaded part and welded it to the frame and bolted the hanger right too it. ka chow!
