Did remote start come as an option for 97-03? I want to add remote start but am anal about keeping things looking stock (even down to the key fob). Is it possible to add the remote start system from a newer gp?

From the factory, no. I doubt you'll be able to retrofit a system from a newer GP in, either. There is far too much that is different.

You can usually wire up a remote start to work using a factory keyfob. they have an activation input connection, if you hook it up to the locks, and press the lock button on your fob the number of times it is set to (usually 2 or 3 times) it will activate the remote start.

So all i would need is an aftermarket remote start, wire it in with my locks and it will work with my factory key fob?

Joe, really? Yours is an SL model, the better one (GT to an SE). I had a 1992 S model and it had RKE...? Why would yours not? It's like 5 years newer!
