wish i had a pic of how i repaired the headlight adjuster on my 91 caprice

i put a piece of 2x4 behind the head light then got a 9" long screw a washer and a vlave spring.

the screw when though the original adjuster hole witht eh washer on top the spring and the head light bracket infront of the washer. worked vary well

04+ is still new. It will be redneck repair in 5 years later. You will see. Oh wait... 04+ is shitty because they dont have a good sale like 97-03 model do. No wonder it is last model to kill. :)

I have an extra screw on the Coupe on the driver's side rocker panel. I tilted my head when I noticed it the first time lol.

I hate working on something that is cobbled together like this, but I love to see the creativity that is brought out.

I bet that plate stopped more water than the original weather stripping did

the colors although not that great at least somebody was trying to be different.

And I am sure the headlight fix was cheaper than a light from a dealer.

Sometimes ya just do what ya gotta do to get by.

Didn't have to go to the junk yard for this one. It's parked right in front of my GP at the office so I just went take a picture of it. This Explorer belongs to a guy I work with. His headlight lens is the plastic packaging from a Maxell DV tape box with a plastic cup inside for detail.

That headlight has been like that for over a year now. You can see the residue from the multiple tape jobs.

That reminds me of my Park Avenue when I first brought it home..driver's cornering lens was broken and held on with duct tape, because the plastic mounting tab on the front fender was broken off. The driver's headlight assembly was new, but the bracket behind it looked as if someone tried to straighten it out, which made the headlight look cockeyed. I replaced the bracket and corner lens with new GM parts, and reattached the broken mounting tab with plastic epoxy. Everything lined up perfectly, and no more duct tape!

^^I used to see cars like that come into the shop, with the windshields or sunroofs sporting heavy beads of black urethane sealer, or strips of duct tape all around the edges. Talk about overkill..

We get tin worm in our cars, but that guy gets wood worm! Is he some kind of plank? Maybe he's a member of a splinter group... When someone told him to nail it he took them quite literally.

^^LOL! Well, I don't have a "before" pic, but here's a pic of my '95 Park Avenue after leaving the body shop, completely de-rednecked:

Image

This was the car's bad side: Rear quarter smashed in, rear wheel opening moulding bent, side mirror snapped off, front license plate bracket missing, front grill broken half way across (needed two guys to open the hood), and the paint was so badly oxidized it looked rusty brown instead of gray. I knew there was a nice car hidden under there.. ;-)
