Yeah flip did to mine. I actually order other LED tails for my daily driving as my stock tail is getting foggy. I figure time for upgrade for better view light like my show car did. I mean it is still bright as hell in sunny and night. Best taillight ever including with tint on it. Mine is full red. It is somewhere on my facebook photo albums.

Oh Jaclyn: Dump Matt and date me. You will get my money for goodies from 66 hours working last week.

^^ This sounds very, very tempting.... lawls!

Gonna bump this up since it's been a while and I totally forgot to update it in quite a while.
I have to say I missed driving this car. I got to drive it this past weekend and it's nice to drive a manual but still have a nice rumble to the exhaust note and some low end grunt that makes my GTI feel like a slug.

As far as changes go, not much has happened to the car, but it needs some TLC in the rust treatment department. Rockers are getting nasty but the strut towers are still A-Ok from what I can see so that's a plus. So hopefully this spring it can get some needed appearance work and fix a couple things here and there, add the HUD and finally tweak the tune since it's currently running on the rich side but still netting up to 35 MPG on the highway, city mileage isn't anything to write home about though so hopefully some tweaking will bump that up.

So anyhow, the one thing that has been done to the car was the lower motor mount which I changed out in July I think. The original hydraulic one was toast so I put in a solid rubber one. Nice not having the engine not feel like it wants to jump out of the bay during every shift especially when the torque converter locks up.

We still have a taillight sitting in the backseat to replace the leaking and delaminated one, but sadly after months of having it I still haven't gotten around to tinting it and putting it on.

Just for fun though since everyone loves pics, here some HDR's and an artsy pic of the grills from last winter plus a pic of some GPONA swag.

Needs moar top swap  but then it would probably blow up the 4T60

Those HDR pics are pretty old since that washer bottle is now gone. I might have to get some more recent shots of the car sometime.

not sure how a gtp pcm would act with having an n/a motor, but you need it for the 4t65 swap.. and it was a success in my car, we have determined it down to a mechanical issue not related to the swap.

i have basicly everything for a top swap btw..

well you could top swap and fix the rockers now then worry about the trans later... i know that works.... ask me how... although i didnt have to fuss with rockers.

About 30 minutes if I had to guess. Don't quite remember though since I did the brakes at the same time. It really isn't that bad, just don't be an idiot like I was and forgot to unbolt the upper dogbones then start jacking the engine up. Whoops  "Why the heck isn't the engine going up anymore?!?!?!?!" Stand up and see the dogbones say "F you!!!!!" Didn't break them though thankfully.

So predictable ;-)

I might have to take you up on that Tom.

Will do Tom.

And I haven't really worked on the GP that much Mike. The tie rod end was about the only thing I've done to it in the past 6 months, but I guess I have to do something with it so I can drive it home every other weekend
She's the one that's going to be whipped if she really wants that Tiguan.

ZOMG!!! An update!!!!!

Not much has been going on with the car since Jaclyn has been DDing it everyday. I did recently finish up Tinted Taillights Volume II. The first set of VHT tinted ones were fading/turning purple and were having huge moisture problems, but what a shock that is  So I hit up Pull-A-Part for the past couple months in order to find 2 good taillights on the cheap. I resealed them just to take a little extra caution against mouisture/delamination problems and then used Rustoleum Lens Tint followed by lots of clear coat and of course some crazy sanding and buffing to make them look buttery smooth. Pretty happy with the results, not perfect by any means but I did admittedly rush them a little since the old tails were getting so bad.
Image

Today Jaclyn and I washed the car, used rubbing compound on the hood to remove the heavy oxidation, waxed with Collinite 845, RainXed all glass, detailed the interior, and resanded the exhaust tips since they were brown. Car looks the best it has in years even with tons of swirl marks, deep scratches, faded paint, and rusted quarter panel haha.
Image

Now that Jaclyn has the summer free, the car should have more downtime for some TLC. Currently it's making a terrible creaking noise whenever you turn the wheel or go over bumps. I first thought strut/mount, but after checking it out tonight it seems like passenger side halfshaft, so the front end is getting some work very shortly. Then it will be getting some body work and treating the rocker panel rust. No engine mods on the way but the tune will be getting some tweaking very shortly as well.

Looking very nice. Definitely looking forward to the rocker rust repair, as it's something I'll have to be combating relatively soon on my gtp :p Just out of curiosity, any plans for the quarter panel rust in the future?

Thanks and yeah I'm going to fix the quarter as well. When she bought the car there was a 6" hole right underneath the fuel door. I fixed it hastily the first week she had the car but I just used bondo since it was quick and easy, so to do it right and actually fix it instead of just fill it I'm going to cut out that section fix it the "correct" way haha. The strut towers are still solid thankfully, but just as a precaution I'm going to POR15 them when I do the rockers. Then maybe get a halfway decent paint job on the car or at least fix the current paint. Trying to keep all costs to a minimum as much as possible.

I also edited the first post on page 1 since some of the pic links were dead. Should be good now.
