theres a guy selling an intense PCM, he said its out of a 2001. if my cars a 2000 will it be a plug and play swap? also ive read mixed feelings about all different types of PCM brands, is intense a decent one or is my car going to blow up? lol

i believe 01 PCMS have the o2 diagnostics programmed in, not sure if that will be an issure tho, and ive heard very good things about intense tunes if they are interchangable i say go for it, as long as it suits your setup

Yes it will work, all 98-02 PCMs are interchangeable. However intense PCM do run aggressive timing and if you have and knock you could blow your stuff up.

I never have understood why people are all over these type of PCMs out of a box. If I'm going to mess with the PCM I'm either tuning it myself or having someone else tune it. Every engine has its own personality. Even with the older engines it's the same way. I could tune my carburetor in a way that is perfect for my 73. I take the carb, put it on another 73 also with the Z28 motor and it won't run as well as it did on mine. There's no such thing as "one size fits all" with engines even within the same year so I'll never get a "box" PCM like that.

i consider box PCMs as a good starting point. especialy if you did a lot of changes to an engine. that's why i got a ZZP box tune for the 01 when i top swapped and cam'd

i just never got it tuned lol

That's where we differ Tom. I'm very picky about how I do things with my cars. For me there is no point of spending the money for a "box" PCM if I'm just going to tune it myself anyway. I'm going to do it myself from the very start. Not to mention before I even think about mods I'll already have tuning software (most likely HPTuners) on hand and a small laptop specifically set up for working with the car and recording data. My huge laptop wouldn't hold up to all the bumps unfortunately.

that was another issue. i needed to get the car running and my anchiant lap top at the time (it was running windows 98) did not have the power or batterie life to tune. also did not have the time. needed to get the car going and drive it 20 miles back home

also this was before HP-tuners and finding a Powr tuner was not that cheap or easy. remember this was back in 2007/2008 lol

Gotcha. I learned the hard way a long time ago not to take on a project if I didn't have what I needed for it. Wasted a ton of money that way unfortunately.

The only way I have run a box tune is I will ride my bike up to zzp ( or whoever, if they are farther way, Zzp is about an hour from me) and have them put in a basic file so I can drive it up safely to get it tuned. ( ie. A basic file for 42.5's so I can put them in at home and then drive the car up for a dunk tune

sent from my driod x, via my fingers through tapatalk
