well the GP is crapping codes ... the P0481 I've had since I bought the car and the P0171 is fairly new. Now I know the P0171 could be caused by the MAF sensor, in fact most likely is being cause by it being dirty or shot MAF, However the P0481 is the real cause for concern... Fan controller 2 fault... as with the warmer temps .... I got home today and the GTP was really hot (boiling Antifreeze hot) so at this point I really need to figure out what the hell is wrong with this thing... I drive 25-30 miles every day mostly highway but the short distance off highway is when she really heats up ... So far I've checked the Harness as much as I could, Checked AND replaced the Relays for the fan controllers, even changed out the Fans and STILL have this issue ..... If anyone has any incite PLEASE let me know ....

My 97 is throwing the damn PO171 code and I cant figure it out. I don't want to start throwing parts at. Rather know what it is for sure then replace it. So MAF can cause a PO171 code?

Anything else?

yup try cleaning it ... but from what I know the P0171 is usually caused by a dirty or faulty MAF or a vac leak.

If ts a vac leak its tiny. Car isn't idling funny enough to notice.

For your issue, my buddy was having the same issue. We pulled the head and he took it to a machine shop. They found a crack between 6 and 4 not noticeable with the naked eye. Hopefully that's not the issue you are having though.
