My car has been overheating the past couple days. I first noticed it Tuesday night on my way home from work. I saw the temp gauge was up pretty high so I used the torque app on my phone and it said the temp was around 240, it ran between 235 and 240 the whole way home. I checked the radiator the next morning and it was low on coolant so I added some.

I assumed being low on coolant was the issue but on my way to work yesterday it started running 235-240 again. When I got to work I noticed that the upper radiator hose was cold. I thought maybe the thermostat was stuck in the closed position so I took the thermostat out while I was at work. It overheated on my way home last night, 240-245 while driving home in -5 weather with no thermostat. I had no heat this time (the heat worked fine the other times it overheated), so it was a pretty cold ride home.

I looked at my car again this morning and it was low on coolant again and I noticed coolant pooled up somewhere under the engine. I took the best pic I could of it and it's at the bottom of this post. Where would that coolant be coming from, the water pump? Looking for any suggestions on what to check next so I can get this fixed. Thanks all.

Hows the oil look?

The 97-03's have a issue with the coolant elbows leaking and the Lower intake Manifold gasket failing.

My 00 GT had the coolant elbows start leaking just over 100,000 miles. You should be able to see them on the left side of the engine. Probably just above where the photo was taken.

W/P and/or elbows. Both are cheap and pretty easy to do and if the W/P is the failed item, it's probably a good idea to change the elbows while you're at it for some cheap insurance.

Document ID number in the service manual is 914952 for the elbows and 1552817 for a W/P Replacement.

Hope that helps ;-)
