Went somewhere and came back home for something and when I went to restart my car, nothing. I thought the battery was dead but it seemed to have plenty of juice. Called AAA and they checked tha batt and found it to be okay but my car still wouldnt crank. Smelled smoke but didnt see any. Then after 2 more tries i actually saw the smoke coming from the starter. That bad boy is dead as dead can get. Monday I have to get it fixed because I dont have time to do it myself which means I have to miss work.

I had a starter replaced on a 99 chrysler 300m i used to own back in 2005 but i cant remember what I paid. :???:

I replaced my original starter last October, after almost getting stuck at an all Pontiac car show. They're easy to replace if you had the time.

I never done that but I remember I see do it yourself thread. Not this site.

I think it is few bolts and some plug. Maybe use ramp to lift this car up and change it under it. I bet it is very tight room for sure lol

Starters on the 3.1 or 3.8 sit in the front below the manifold. East to do just maker the engines cool before.

Also if you hold the key forward and have someone tap on the starter while holding the key you might be able to get it to start

actually it wasnt the starter, it was the a/c motor that seized up and kept the engine from turning over. the thing was making a LOT of noise for about 3 weeks straight before it died. i kinda wish it was the starter though. would've been a lot cheaper to fix, shit.

I can't go without A/C. It gets WAY to hot for that mess. I'll just pay to get I fixed.

AC compressor is also an easy fix. Just bring it to a place to evacuate the refrigerant, bring it home take off belt and about 4 bolts and a wire harness and replace and fill with R134A.

I've replaced 1 on my car and 2 on friends cars with used ones from Ed Morad.

I should've went with tha pully. I barley use my a/c but it makes it easier to sell with it though.
