i am thinking once i get my bonus from work this year i am going to be getting a better DD cuz the 204,000 mile 1996 monte carlo is on its way out soon....i came across these 2 cars after i searched around for a little bit....how do you guys think the prices are on them? i am looking for a 4 door GT or GTP and any year between 98 to 03 and under 100,000 miles

Yeah, i'm looking too. Hard to find rust free rocker panels up north. Looked at an 01 today with only 48,000 miles and it had rust....as well as too many dings.

I recommend auto trader. I found my brother an 03 with 50K miles a couple years ago for like 6K. Craigslist also has some good listings.

so ive been doing some looking on craigslist and autotrader and havent found much yet...the ones in my price range seem to be in 75-90,000 mile range in either the 97-03 or 04+ style....is there anything difference between the 2 body styles as far as issues with either one?

i am also thinking i want to get a gtp model to at least have a somewhat fast car....i had a 98 gtp before the gxp and i blew the trans at about 125,000 miles so my question is do the gt's have a better track record of not blowing the trans with the decrease in hp?

To answer your question they probably do bc they are down on horse power. The weak link In our cars is the trans once you get to the 300 horsepower threshold.

You can get a nice gtp (arround 01-03) with decent miles in ontario for 3-5k but we have the rust monster issue here too. Guys are regularly selling them for parts or complete as parts cars for a thousand bucks or less now...

Sad really.

But like everywhere else, the good deals go fast.
