S/W = Love!!!! And those first BBS RS's = my fav!!!
On that note, yes you can polish painted Tstars. It just involves a lot of sanding, time, and if you want to keep them looking nice, some clearcoat after it's all said and done (or hit them with some metal polish every couple weeks but it's just easier to clearcoat them once they are polished to whatever mirror look you want, or slight satin look like I prefer haha).

If you're wheels are curbed pretty badly though, then things get trickier since you can't just steel putty in the rash marks since that obviously won't polish up, but if you have some light rashing, nicks you can get them out with just sanding.
I didn't read all that thread, but have polished quite a few items so far and I start with 80-100 grit to remove paint, high spots, casting marks, rash, etc, then just keep going down the list of grits (I wetsand with soapy water for anything 600 and higher). Just keep going till you get the shine you want, then use a metal polish/paste, clearcoat it and enjoy. You can use power tools to do some of the initial sanding and final buffing if you'd like. On something like the Tstars though, you should be okay without power tools though since they aren't very intricate wheels and your hand can get into most of the corners without too much trouble, but if you have a dremel it would come in handy for the spots where the spots meet the barrel/lip and the lug nut holes.

I would love to see this go down and if it does, best of luck to you :thumbright:

For the time and effort involved I'd say go buy a polished set, they're cheap these days.
