My '00 gtp is sitting in my garage atm, without a battery. I put the spare key in, turned it and I couldn't shift out of park, even with my foot on the brake. I hit the release, tried to push it. (4 flat tires didn't want to cooperate) after giving up I went to pull my key out and it will not come out, I cannot get the ignition out of acc.

Is this an issue with a spare? Is it because I don't have a battery?

Every time I touch this car it reminds me why I hate it.

Thanks,
Ryan

You need a good battery in the car in order for the key and shifter to work properly. I had similar problems with my car because the factory amp was shorted, and killing the battery if the car sat longer than a day without being started.

Whew, I thought there was something screwy with the spare key. Looks like the gp isn't getting it's new tires and rims until it gets a battery.

the shifter interlock doese not work with out power too it. you can do it witht eh battery unplugged by taking a small over off next to the shifter and pushing it down with a small screw driver

Yea, I hit the release next to the shifter, but with 4 flat tires she wasn't going anywhere.
