I like the sound. I dont understand why it bothers some people. It goes away when the car warms up anyways.

Or you could just fix the problem and upgrade your TB to a northstar

That isn't going to make the intake any quieter, in fact it will probably be louder because it will be drawing in more air.

My gf's GTP didn't have a box, and the intake sound was kind of annoying, I then put on a box that had some insulating mat on it, but no top yet. It's silent when it's idleing, but on the throttle you can hear it a little bit.

I can't hear the intake on my GTP..just exhaust and then SC whine/scream when i get on it.

I think that with most of you SC people that the whine of the SC is louder than the intake. Since I don't have a SC, then all I hear is intake. I've decided to try to dampen the sound some and put a top on the surround and see how that works. If not, I am keeping it. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks, of course.

are you sure its the intake and maybe not a vacuum leak? a vacuum leak would be a pretty loud whine and it would get louder with RPM too.

just something to look at.

No, not a vacuum leak. It is actually pretty quiet at cruising speed.

Kind of annoys me too. I'd rather here exhaust than intake.

I put an FIPK on my wife's Jimmy and love the way it sounds. It is simply the engine thanking me for allowing it to have more air. I need to gut the cat as well, and then it will thank me for letting it exhale better too.

K&N FIPK kits generally are louder. It's part of the design. I don't see much reason to quiet them, but if you want to, go for it.

I think Chethammer mentioned he's an audiophile, and wants to hear the qualities of the sound along with the subtle nuances and character you can't hear over a loud ass intake. That's my best guess....
