I know the open cone intake is pretty self explanatory, but I was wondering where would i put the IAT sensor? I've read that people "zip tie" it, but where?
I'd rather not just zip tie it to the side of the intake and throw a code or something.

I have a HAI now, and the old Spectre seems like it needs to retire (cleaned and oiled maybe 4 times), so I was wanting to just clamp on a 6" K&N cone to it.

Please post pics if possible
Thanks!

Drill a hole and install it in the intake tubing.

There wouldn't be any intake tubing with an open cone set up thought, right? wouldn't that just be a hot air intake?

You're gonna get the same result with both. Just replace your spectre with a new filter and be done with it. Either way you will have your PCM pulling timing for hot air coming in.

Put a short coupler on the SC inlet and put the IAT sensor there.

i just used a razor blade, slit the rubber adapter at a reversed angle, fed the wires in and hooked up the iat inside the cone

^^^ it works. and it reads the actual incoming air, not just chilling in the engine bay randomly or having to add pipe or coupler just to get the iat in

^^ That actually looks very clean and simple.

Here is what I did, simple and easy and didn't pull as much air straight off the x-over.
I cut the corrugated part off the stock intake and put a short 3.5" tube in there, attached to an AEM 9x4 dry-flow cone.
