with er's the the higher the shift point, the more you can take advantage of them..

Ok, but doesnt a engine stop making power after a certain rpm range due to the cam not the valve body.

It stops making power because of inefficiencies, yes. The entire valvetrain, cam to valves included. Also involved are the intake and exhaust systems. It has nothing to do with the transmission. If you can make power higher, you can raise the shift points. The valve springs are a key factor in how high you can spin the engine.

yep, and even then the exhaust (especially the heads) makes a big difference too. thats why when you go cammed, yo *usually* get ported heads too.
