Hi --

I have a 1999 Grand Prix GTP, 3.8L S/C engine with sunroof.

Since hurricane Irene came roaring through and TS Lee a week later, I developed a problem with the headlights. During the heavy rain, my alarm sounded, flashing the headlights, honking the horn as it should. Obviously, I was not going to venture in the rain to figure out the problem. I simply unlocked the car with the remote and the alarm stopped. The next time I attempted to drive the car about 4 days later, the headlights (low beam and daytime running lights only) did not function, either automatically with the sensor or with the switch. The parking brake was not set and I checked to be sure it was completely dis-engaged. The high beam switch did work and the those lights come on normally as long as the car is running. The interior on the passenger side is wet -- the front seat, the floor and the rear passenger side floor. There is also a bit of wetness at the top of the passenger side windshield above the visor. I have had problems with the front passenger floor getting wet before and believe this is due to the blower deflector being off or missing under the cowl. That will be repaired as soon as I can obtain the deflector part. I have never experienced any leakage anywhere around the roof, windshield or sunroof.

I tried doing a search with the term "headlights" but it returned no results. However, I will continue to search everyone's blogs for any issues such as this.

If anyone knows of some tips or repairs to attempt, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks.

Update --

I checked the 20A circuit breaker on the interior fuse block and the DRL 10A fuse, both support current throught them. I also checked the large 60A fuse on the under-the-hood block, it too supports current flow. Therefore, these cannot be the issue.

My thoughts exactly. The low beam filaments are the DRL's as well, just running at a lower wattage. The constant flashing from your alarm going off probably killed the filaments. Replace the bulbs and see if that fixes your problem. As for the wet floor you want to clean your sunroof drain tubes if you have them and replace your cabin air filter. Very common problem.
