do you want to still drive at night. if so do not paint the inside black event he black chrome ones on ebay severly deminish the craptastic light output of the stock lights

to open them though you need to bake them in an oven untill the glue gets soft

my ram i opened the heads up and painted everything but the reflective bowl black. with hid's i couldn't tell the difference. i even wanted to open em back up and repaint everything completely black.

so if you have stock halogen don't paint it. if you have hid's or projectors by all means open em up and paint the bastards, but be warned you can get pulled over for have too "dull" headlights or "covers" on them

and to answer your question 250*F for 14 mins use a beach towel and have the lens face down on the towel so there is not scratches

and w/ the headlights you picked, it will be a mother f*c*in bitch to get the reflector bowl to tape properly, so you run the chance of making it look like poo because of the tape needed

I'll be honest with you. The black headlights that are on sale on ebay have a smaller chrome reflector. That is why the light output on them sucks in comparison to the stock lights. Now I painted a set of OEM stock lights black. The light output is just as good as the stock lights being all chrome. The difference is the size of the chrome reflector. You will not lose light output with painted stockers. I am even using halogens (Philips X-Treme power bulbs).

To get them open, the best method is popping them in the oven at around 200 degrees for a few min and pry them open slowly with a screw driver. I did mine with a heat gun and screw driver.

Here are the pics that I have comparing the two. You can see the difference by looking at the part of the headlight closest to the grille area.

Go ahead and paint the smooth areas of the reflectors and not the squares. Your light output would be fine.

When I did mine, I used some steel wool to scuff up the smooth chrome reflective material.

After that I cleaned it with some acetone. After I cleaned it, I taped off the rear refelctor (the little squares area) with some painters tape.

As a hint, run each piece of tape on you pants or on your fingers to limit the adhesive from pulling off the shrome material. Once it is taped off go ahead and paint it.

I used some rustoleum paint for plastics that I got at autozone. I did three coats. I let the paint sit for about 15 min between coats.

After they were dry enough, I removed the tape from the area that was taped off.

I then put a bead of silicone around the headlight where the lens meats the housing.

I used some tape all around the assembly to hold the lenses on tight. You can use clamps as well. I let them sit overnight to have the silicone cure completely. Mine have never leaked or developed condensation.
