Yep getting another one! Well another to strip and scrap. I don't know for sure the year or the miles. But it is an se with 3.1, it belonged to the daughter of a gal I work with and i have done some work on it for them ( swaybar bushing, window motor and switch, some basic stuff)

On the way to work last week I saw a grand prix in the ditch upside down. I later found out that it was her car. The gal I work with decided that instead of letting the company scrap it that she would offer it to me for scrap price instead of letting them have it she would rather see me have the usable parts . It's just so happens that a good friend of ours has a 2000 malibu that the motor went bad in, I instantly thought of them and figured for the cheap price to get the car I could help some friends in a desperate situation out with a cheap motor not knowing in the miles but knowing that it ran good I figured I could afford to sell it for cheap, scrap the rest of the car and not be out of any money and have extra wheels tires and a few other items or less than nothing just for doing the work on picking it up and pulling the motor and trans out . Then I got to thinking if the transmission will work fine in my 97 then I would like to put it in there to have a trans with all gears that work.

I think I will at some point cut the roof off so I can get in there to make sure everything works. ( not changing the darn thing again unless I know it works fully.)

you know i will. that will be too good not too.

but i really do want to make sure it all works before i spend the time to putll it, so it only makes sense to take the roof off so i can get in there and do anything. besides there are some wires, deck, and switches that i want and i dont thing the doors are gonna open for me if i don't, and possibly not even then without some force. hoping to get the plugs out and have it running again some time wed. if all goes well ( not my luck) i will start pulling it all wed or thurs. but will proby be on my next day off either monday or tues. (depending on overtime)

true, i didnt think of that.

i thought about using something like a porta power to push the roof back up, but i still wouldnt be able to open the door and get in very easy.

2004 Grand Prix GT2: cone air intake, rebuilt HD transmission, rebuilt camshaft, rebuilt top, repainted black rims, rebuilt suspension, slotted/cross drilled rotors, Pioneer AVIC-D3 TV stereo, and more!

Well after fighting the plugs out, and pumping ghoul out of the cylinders, putting plugs back in it smoked like hell but ran. I think the exhaust is kinked, and the radiator is broke, so i don't know how much I will run it. But I do need to see how the trans works so well see.

well i never did cut the top and drive it, as the radiator was broken and i didnt want to overheat the motor, but here are some in progress pics just for fun..

for got i had the 1/2 to 3/4 adapter at my house, so we take off the axel nut the other way.. get out the 3/4 impact..!!!!







and here is the next try for the 97. and it isnt a stocker.. it looks to have come from a yard.. great, who knows how many miles are on it..

I think you got rid of the gutless before i got this one. Besides about 3/4 of the reason I got it was for the motor for some friends Malibu. That was when i realized the transmission may work in my car too.
