What is the best way to go about doing the flipped motor mount mod?

I may move to polyurethane mounts later, but I want to see if flipping the mounts will help with the engine torque issue first.

Take out the bolts for the dog bones to the motor mounts (15mm bolt and nut), the bolts for the dogbone to bracket on the motor isn't necessary to take out, then once the bolt is out push the dog bone out of the way and put the bolt back into just the motor mounts. Tighten the bolt as much as you can. Now just try to spin the bolt by using a wrench on both sides of the motor mount and turning those 2 wrenches in the direction you want to flip the motor mount and spray something like WD-40 in between the rubber and the metal outer part while turning and it should eventually flip. Don't forget that you want the V shape of the mount to be facind downwards not upwards.

Good method to go about it. Using something like WD-40 or PB Blaster is crucial. Spray it down real good before you start and try to get it in all of the grooves as much as you can. They can be quite a chore to flip around. It definitely does help stiffen things up though. There is less flex after hitting the gas, resulting in a feeling of more torque.

Pretty much what everyone else said about using WD-40. This is pretty much the same thing that Planeboy18 said, but with pictures.

One of mine ripped.....

!st junkyard had GP's and similar GM's but none had good mounts attached. All the good ones stayed with the motors when they pulled em. Off to another yard.

But yes, I did notice a difference.

Just flipped mine in my '05. Was pretty tight but a nice shot of lubricant and it worked like a charm. Not sure If I notice too much of a difference but I guess that just gives me a reason to stop and start a bit harder to test 'er out.

Yes you can buy poly mounts. They are expensive new, about $60, but u can buy them off of ZZP here: https://www.zzperformance.com/grand_pri ... php?id=130. I would suggest finding a cheap used set if u can. They are completely solid, and add 100% stiffness, so your engine barely rocks at all when you hammer on the gas. Good mod to do if you can find them for cheap.

Don't buy ZZP's mounts unless you want to experience a 6.7 magnitude earthquake every time you sit in your car. They're way too uncomfortable for daily driving. If it's a track car, then that's different.

I highly recommend Intense's poly mounts. They're firm enough to have all the benefits of poly mounts but soft enough that the vibration isn't unbearable.

I tell ya I have been driving with solid mounts in nodded cars for long enough that when I started driving my 97 with completely stock mounts I thought for sure there was a mount loose as if I could feel the motor rock and jump around the hood which also delays reaction time. I will be flipping them for sure before I start driving the car again. I may have to look into the intense mount also

When I flipped mine, the vibration felt the same on the inside of the car. But I did notice that engine moved less when I had someone else start it while I looked inside the engine bay.
