My resonator has the Mother Nature Exhaust Bypass built in, and lately, its been getting bigger... AKA there's a giant f*c*i*g hole in it and it's getting worse. What should I replace it with? Should I just go for the classic Cherry Bomb glasspack, or should I just go ghetto and pop in some straight pipe? I know the glasspack wouldn't sound too shabby, but would straight pipe sound like asscrack? Thanks in advance...

Straight pipe will cause mass amounts of drone. I'd go glasspack or "powerstick".

I'm running a 32 inch glass back on my GF's GP and it sounds pretty good. Zero drone when cruising but enough growl when you get on the gas. And glasspacks are cheap enough that it's not really a huge price increase over a long piece of piping. If you're really anal about your car though, I'd say get a Cherry bomb or similar glasspack which has perforated omterior and not the louvers inside since those kind of glasspacks reduce the interior diameter in which the gases are allowed to flow. But that's just me.

I think I'll just find a cheap ass glasspack with a 2.5" ID and figure out how long it's gotta be. Thanks guys, guess I can add ANOTHER project to the list... lol

You mean deleting the resonator?

I did that and it sounds great, just enough drone for my liking but not too loud.
I just have a cheap Thrush Turbo muffler behind mine, was like $25 at advance. I could put up a video if you wanted, but IDK how much different it would be comparing a 3100 to a 3800sc.

Mike - I have this 3" Grand Prix ZZP Exhaust sitting in my garage you know. Exhaust manifold back... That would fix that hole.

I wanna grab that Tyler, but I just don't have the money and I wouldn't for probably over a year... :( If I had the dough, I'd totally grab it up.

OK, I decided I'm trying a last ditch effort to not have to cut into the exhaust. I bought a $3 thing of "Muffler Weld" shit that's like high-temp epoxy (I assume) and slapped that into the hole. Hopefully that fixes it, but I won't know until tomorrow. That hole was pretty big... About 4-5" long.

I can't. I meant to text you. I'm going to Illinois Friday night, coming back Sunday. We're cleaning out my grandmother's house for the last time. Sucks.

As for my exhaust patch, it's looking good. Just have to let it finish drying overnight. Should be set by tomorrow.

What kit did you use? My brother used the 'muffler bandage' kit once (with the sheet of metal and wrap stuff you put around it then glue down or whatever) and it never worked out.

I think if I let it set tonight, it'll be OK.

I've never heard straight pipe sound decent on anything other than a V8 in my personal experience. Sounds great on my IROC (and makes ppl ask if I have a bigger motor in there) but I wouldn't dare do it on anything smaller than that. I did it at the time mainly as a cost saving measure and liked it more than I expected. Got a better than expected reaction as well from the local cruise in crowd as well as the shop that does the stuff that I don't have the equipment to do. I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do exhaust wise for my next GTP though or for when I throw an L67 into a 2nd gen.

I would recommend going quiet for the most part, but have an electric cutout if you wanna race.

I'm gonna check on this when I wake up. I'll let you all know how it works. I'm assuming it didn't dry due to humidity, since it's been so hot and humid lately.

HAHAHA this shit worked. My exhaust is SO quiet now that I almost tried to start the car after it was already running! lol Car still has a nice little burble to it, but doesn't have that raspy, loud drone. In fact, in most driving, it's kinda hard to hear the exhaust unless you're looking for it. So total investment in this project: $7 ($3 for the Muffler Weld, $4 for some crappy exhaust tape that I had to throw away). I'm calling this a success.

It's pretty damn good stuff I'm gonna say. Car is still NICE and quiet-in fact, quieter than the wife's Malibu.... And it's only $3.

Yeah, I kinda figured it be Tyler.
