I promise, you'll hate the flatblack. Did it on my GenIII and after about a week hated it.

After picking up my L32 I went right back to where I started, semigloss

Well, what I like, and think looks the best is to do some contrasting colors to break up the different colors in the engine bay. So, if your for sure going to paint your M90 flat black (or just leave it gloss cause I dont think it looks that bad) then for your fuel rails I would say do them the red of your body color. I would also do your upper engine mounts, dog bones, strut tower bar, and the side braces too in the same red color.

I think your valve cover would look sweet gloss black as well, and the grooves in the VC, I would paint those to match the body color of your car, and the rest of the other parts you did. Top it off with a pimp ass billet aluminum oil fill cap, and you would be sitting pretty good.

Oh, and reroute your rear 2,4, & 6 plug wires to go UNDER your snout for a cleaner look/install of those.

If you want to go a step further, all the bolts, such as for the upper motor mounts, dog bones, side braces, and valve cover you could have those chrome plated for that extra special tough of bling.

Here is my old ass engine bay when I kinda first started making it look good...everything red, was powder coated cause I didn't want to jack with repainting stuff later down the road. I did all this back in 2001.

And...now...9 or so years later

Found these pictures when I filled my grooves in my valve covers, and had them gloss black.

I ended up selling those cause somebody wanted them, and did up another set, this time only shaved the grooves on the ends and went silver...

and overlaid with some real carbon fiber.

I want to do up another VC, but machine out the center section, and in stall some polished billet aluminum so its recessed in, and has a smooth transition on the top.

Polishing a M90 is not a easy task. Takes the guys who do all my work 18 to 28 hours clock time for a M90, and they are professionals doing aircraft quality polishing and metal work with professional tools. To me...well worth the $250.00 they charge.

What did you use to fill the grooves?

I used Polyurethane Body Putty, or "POLLY PUTTY" as many call it. You can get it from O'Reilly's.

Its easier to work with, sand, and blend than Bondo. Just prep the surface REALLY good, so that means sanding waaaay down in the grooves well so it has something to grab ahold of.

Here is another engine I am just about done building for a friend. He went"P.O. Blue" powder coat on his parts.
