Hello guys I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT.
3800 regular V-6. I have 84,000 miles.
I was thinking about having a remote starter
put in my Grand Prix. Do you guys like that
feature? Have you had any problems with your
car after having one installed??? I know that
wires have to be cut to install the remote starter.
So do you think its worth 160-200 dollars to have one
installed?? I would hate to get one put in and then have
problems with the car. Any thoughts??? I thought it might
be a nice feature to have this winter.

I have the factory installed remote start on my car and I couldn't live without it. In the summer it cools my car down and in the winter it warms it up which is such a great feature.

the GTX has one i never found my self using it. i still went out side any way to get the mail so i just started the car then. then looked at the remote and went "oh right i have you" and just shrugged

problem i had was the remote start over road the factory key-fob so i could not lock or unlock the doors with it or open the trunk. the remote start remote for what ever reason would not lock the doors it would unlock though

I got it installed on my first GP and I never had any problems with anything after the install. The shop that did mine made it a real clean install. My 05 came with it factory. I really don't use it that often, and when I do it's only in the winter. Usually I go out to brush/scrape my car and I hop in and start it while I do that.

That being said, if my next car doesn't come with it, I personally wouldn't pay for it. But too each his own on that one.

Mine came with it from the factory. I love it! Depending on where you live, it can be very handy!

I had one installed on my car that is a alarm and remote start. It was about $400.00. This is what I have http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... CF0Q8wIwAA but you don't have to get one with a alarm. I love mine though never had any problems with it. The button even tells you the temp in your car.

I had a cheap install and it had major issues after a year. This was on my last car, (1991 Olds 88). Now I just refuse to have a starter installed after its left the factory. There is no way anybody can do a nice a job as what is done at the factory is my belief.

I installed an aftermarket remote start/alarm on my own and it was a huge pain in the ass but totally worth it. I bought the T-Harness adapter which has been discontinued and is pretty hard to find and that made everything easier because I didn't have to cut any wires. I never had any problems with it but I took my time installing it and triple checked all my wiring so I knew it was right.

Its still frustrating to get the "Remote Start Disabled" message on those cold days. WTF?
