The shop find used cruise control cable for $266 including labor but it is too steep price for me. They don't make new part anymore so they have to used part from any junk yard.

Well my car throttle got stuck when I use cruise control on at highway that screaming for up to 100 mph for no reason. They say it is bad cruise control cable. I have 4 grand prix on my local junk yard that I will grab it for CHEAP price than what they have.

But I don't know how to uninstall or install them. I hate to mess it up if I might risk myself into guardrail

Do you have any write-up for this?

Thanks guys.

It's in the gm service link up top. Just search cruise control an it will pop up.

See if this link works.

Hmm it is little help but little confused how to removed metal cable out of throttle body. I will have to go junk yard to find one. Maybe get whole package from cruise control box to cable I guess.

It is only doing that if I turn cruise control on. It is off so I won't use it until I get it fixed. I have it on my cruise control with post it note "out of service" on my cruise control button.

I was little scared to see my car drive away from shop guy. I wasn't sure if he will wreck mine. It is still sitting at the shop but I will get it back tomorrow morning. I'm trapped at work all day. :-(

This weekend, I will go to 2002 Galaxy Silver SE gp at junk yard where I got a spare hood few weeks ago. It has cruise control there so I should grab it. For just a case it is taken (I doubt it) But question is.. is gt/p same as for cruise control cable? I know cruise control box is same for SE/GT/GTP but I'm not sure if our cable are same length?

I would imagine one from a Buick Century would fit. I hope that helps...

No worry. Cruise control cable is gone now. I can't use cruise control anymore anyway.

I went to junk yard to get out of 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix SE this morning. I figure all 3100 engine are same right? WRONG. 2002-2003 is too short for my 2001 model. WTF? That's bullshit.

I looked at gm direct part. It has 97-98 cable for $24 buck (not sure if it is same or not). Then 99 to 01 don't exist anymore. Then 02-03 for $31 buck.

Left is 2001. Right is 2002. Huge difference between length and you could see cruise control "twist" button are very different.

I'm out of cruise control again for another week. I guess I will have to find 99 to 01 year only (if 99 and 00 are same as 2001) cruise control cable.

I finally find 2001 Buick Century cable from my junk yard. Thanks Mike Long for tip.

I learned that this cable item is only for 2001. 97-98 and 99-00 are different. 02-03 is different. So I have a "special" item for 2001 only which it doesn't make anymore.

lol yeah. I know it is very strange. It does make me like wtf? Seriously? My local shop have a trouble to find that 2001 part from gm dealership but they find it from junk yard. It will cost me $266 including labor. It does make me laugh. I turn them down.

7 buck cable + install myself = happy cruise control again!!!!

I didn't have time to hang around at junk yard as I have to go work soon. I will keep looking for 2001 Monte Carlo, Impala or Mailbu if they are same this Saturday for spare part for just a case in future.
