So today, I popped one of my AL 104s (cylinder 3) out and noticed a few things. First, the plug had charring on the ceramic (seal died), so they all hafta get replaced again. Second, I noticed a metric fuckton of carbon build up on that plug. I'm assuming the head looks like that too. How can I go about cleaning this out relatively well without ripping the engine apart? Is there anything I can add to the gas or oil (probably gas) that would actually get this crap out? Thanks...

You could try putting seafoam through the vacuum lines. I've always had good experiences with using that stuff.

seafoam

also paint thinner add 1pint for every 10 gallons of gas. during the combustion process the paint thinner turn into CO2 and H2O and basicly steam cleans the engine

That's an interesting method Tom. I'll have to remember that one.

yup it's a good way to clear out a clogged cat converter as well. also works on contaminated o2 sensors

just drive the car hard for 50-100 miles

I'll definitely remember that one for sometime in the future.

I bet that has the same chemical makeup as some shit in a can that I put through my truck a couple years ago. All kinds of smoke and steam came out the exhaust for a while and then it was a noticeable difference. This is a hell of a lot cheaper though that whatever that stuff was (been so long I can't remember).

I think I'll give that a shot, see what it does with the current plugs. I FINALLY noticed a misfire just once the other day, but other than that it runs near perfect...
