superchargers do not use blow off valves like a turbo does. we have a boost bypass valve that does exactly what the name suggests, bypasses the air pressure to somewhere else.

that beign said you cant get a bov for a s/c, so no pssshht sound for you. (unless you go turbo!)

but those are basically superturbos....
and they have a BOV.

s/c=no BOV.

i'm confused by your post..

turbos run off exhaust.. CSC runs off a belt just like any other s/c.. it may "look" kinda like a turbo, but completely different..

Most of the big Roots style blowers have blow off valves built into the case, but they don't make the psssht noise. Alot of the smaller blowers and the "hybrid" styles have internal bypass valves.

I've never seen a centrifical set up with out a BOV. Espicially with carburetors.

i know turbos run of exhaust, but they LOOK like a turbo (the housing away) but they don't completely act like a s/c or a turbo.

I wanna get a Centrifugal blower... I helped a guy install a Paxton Novi on an old late 60s Mustang and it had a BOV. Hybrid (small) blowers do not need one. So no, our cars can't sound like rice for under $4,000.... Unless you buy the revving/BOV CD...

Nope. I was on Hwy 100 in Milwaukee. Some Civic hatch wants to race, I hear him rev at me. Suddenly, revving stops and I see him mess with his deck. Hits a button and there it is again, only he missed idle-4000 RPMs... And when he REALLY revved it was just a 4 banger dumping into some loud exhaust... I figured out he only had the BOV CD and then I crushed him like the turd he is...

We don't require them for our cars, yes one could be installed, but only do if you don't mind getting made fun of.

Main reason for a BOV is to vent pressure from building up inside the intake when the throttle body blade is closed, and the supercharger or turbo is still spinning making boost. its only for a split second that it opens and shuts to vent, or unload the pressure. Some take this sound to a whole new level making it very noticeable with added on features to do so. I kinda like the sound myself, especially after a big burn out and the valve is opening and shutting rapidly making a fluttering pressure effect. Its like music to my ears.

You can change when this unloads, by changing the internal spring to a different poundage spring which will unload at a given pressure.

Our BBV on our M90's is there to make the unit as efficient as it can be for emissions. Under normal driving, the vacuum keeps the internal butterfly flap open, allowing air to bypass the rotors, and enter the lower intake right away to make the air fuel mixture more accurate and more blended. Under boost, the BBV closes the butterfly shut, so all incoming air is directed into the rotors to create boost in the LIM, at this point, no car is going to be very efficient under WOT/Boost.

My Procharger kit for my LT1 has this BOV in the system.
