hi im thinking about getting a intake for the gtp. i will buy a pre made one due to the the fact that in the past i can never make a good looking intake (functional yes, good looking no), and on this car i want a professional look along with some performance gain.

now on to the second part of this. i just threw a cone filter on the car and went for a drive to see how i liked the sound. loved the whine but hated that noise on startup. is there any intake that will make this quiter than another?

im currently looking at the slp intake or the wizzair. i have the sd hood is why im looking at the slp and its the cheapest.

any advice or pointers?

Any open cone I have heard sounds like that. If you make the SD hood functional then you get the ram air effect but not tthe sound because your back to an enclosed air box.. so not alot I can think of that you get good whine and little startup noise.

Wizaired, thrasher ( if they still make them) , k&n, and I am sure someone will chime in with more

I have the SLP intake on mine. The start up noise is not as noticeable as when I had the K&N intake. Performance wise it's about the same. Only reason I switched to the SLP intake is due to the smog guy's giving me crap for the K&N. The SLP looks stock under the hood.

If you can get your hands on an SLP airbox to make your hood functional, that would probably be the best route for you since it will still have some noise cancelling properties and will take advantage of the hood. Just about any intake without the rubber intake boot and/or airbox will make noise due to the baffling qualities being eliminated with an open tubular intake setup.
