So does anyone know how to get to this little beauty and how to replace it?

Or might I have to tear apart my dashboard and go searching for it?

The actuator is shot. Cold air on the passenger side, warmer on the drivers side. And there is a clicking under the dash. Tell tale signs that the actuator needs to be replaced.

I do that most of the time. But when it's hot and raining...not so good. Or if I'm on the highway, too loud.

Got 'er replaced, the regular actuator isn't the one on the left that's real nice and easy to get to, that's the defrost actuator. It's the one on the right behind the fuses crammed into the tightest space possible... :?

But even after the work of replacing the actuator, still nothing different. Still colder on the right than on the left. The passenger gets perfect AC while I, the driver, get slightly cooled vent air. No more clicking though so that's a good thing, doesn't sound like some crazy bug is stuck in my dash.

Anyone have ideas now?

well i did some research on this and it really sounds likea very common problem that does not seem to have an answer. it looks like people have had their cas in dealerships for days awith no outcome.

[PREVIOUSLY STATED
possibly a stuck valve/door not opening properly??? this happened to my moms Jimmy where its located though if it even has one im not sure.]

after reading what i did people replaced that valve/door and there was still no change in the air flow. so im not really sure anymore.

I wouldn't even know what to look for...when I was under there, I saw one door type thing which was attached to the actuator via a lever.

that might be it. but there should be 2 seperate ones if you have dual climate control.

I almost don't even want to deal with it since there is so much crap under there...and I'm definitely not taking to to a dealership, especially not down here. If I need to I'll take it to one back home, I trust and have connections those people, and I have family at one.

if you remove the right hand glove box and its rear backing, and then the lower part under the steering wheel you should be able to access quite a bit of stuff. its either a phillips screw, or an 8mm(i believe) head its your choice. just dont be like me, i have tendencies to lose screws and then shit squeeks....UGH!!!!

I lost one screw when I replaced my actuator...luckily there are 4 others that hold the bottom of the glove compartment on. I have no idea how I managed that, I put everything right on the floor in front of me...Maybe tomorrow night after work I'll get under there and try to see what I can get at and see what might be the problem.

Isn't there a temperature actuator on the driver's side tucked up in there too? Seems to me there is. I know everybody hates CGP but they've got all KINDS of info on this over there.
