 My daughters 99 GPGT dropped a valve and now has a piston with a half-dollar size hole in it. Needless to say, with the total extent of damages, I am on a quest to find another engine. Need a "K" 3800 series II, not supercharged, let me know what you got and what you want and where ya are. I prefer to here run, but... I live in Kalamazoo, MI, so, sw Mich. is the region. Any help is appreciated, thank you. Jim. ;-)

Try morad or any junk yard. You could even find a L26 instead of the L36 for a decent upgrade.

I live by Bangor I will see what the local yards here have, if nothing check klq in Kzoo and morris rose also in town. I have enough stuff that one could be rebuilt. Or depending on your miles reuse your bottom end and freshen the top.

Will help with what I can just let me know the direction you want to go.

I wish I could just do the top end, but no.2 cylinder has some deeps scratches, plus the valve spring exploded, so you know there is debris in there some where, it would bite my ass if I tried to do the minimum. bigdog9191999, I think I've seen some of your stuff on craigslist. The local yards down here are at $750-$1100 for used motors, I cannot afford that much right now.

Shoot. Morad's engines are cheaper than that.

There has to be some 3800's up in that area of Michigan for cheap. Heck the 3800 was built just 2 hours away in Flint
Keep eye on CL for a cheap score. There's usually one around here for sale for 300 bucks, but it would be quite a hike to come down here to pick up a motor.

I scored an engine from a GM dealership that came out of a wrecked 00 Bonneville, this guy knew this guy, etc. 21000 miles, (verified), oiled and sealed with a bag, $500. Pretty sure I'll have to change intake manifold, damper, exhaust manifolds, but I already got that stuff from the old "boat anchor". BTW, It does have one good cylinder head, if anyone needs it. Personally, I plan on rebuilding it with mods, and finding a project car later. This swap should be fairly straight forward, any advice?
